You will be working as part of an integrated team that supports Advanced Recovery and Integrated Extraction System, ARIES, production capabilities within LANL's nuclear facility. AMPP-3 supports the Nation's objectives of nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear disarmament, fissile material disposition, and actinide fuels development by using the LANL (ARIES). ARIES is the process of dismantling the core of nuclear weapons (pits), converting the plutonium from pits into oxide, processing of the oxide to ensure it falls within customer specifications, and certifying this oxide for use in support of national defense and security missions.
You will report directly to the AMPP-3 Group Leader and will work with the ARIES Technical Program Manager, the ARIES Production Manager, the ARIES Material Manager, and the ARIES Group Leader to provide technical expertise in the planning, tracking, and execution of the ARIES production mission with yearly deliverables. Seeking to fill two positions. One position will focus on ARIES production and milestones and the second position will focus on ARIES construction and equipment.

Technical Project Manager 3 $119,200 - $201,100
The successful candidate will:
- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in project management of technical or operational work, including defining technical work scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, and performance milestones; developing cost, scope, and schedule baselines; reporting cost and schedule variance; and managing change control and risk for programmatic work executed in a nuclear facility.
- Advanced knowledge of regulatory and Laboratory requirements related to programmatic work (e.g., the impacts of safety or environment constraints on programmatic work).
- Advanced knowledge and proven ability in formulating and presenting results and project information to technical and programmatic customers.
- Proven ability to identify potential project and/or technical risks, develop mitigation strategies and recovery plans.
- Demonstrated record of written communication that can include reports, peer-reviewed journals, procedure development or research analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in an advisory role, interacting effectively with all levels of external and internal personnel.
- Excellent oral and presentation skills as evidenced by presenting briefings to stakeholders.
- Advance experience interfacing with program and line management to define progress against established milestones, deliverables and developing metrics to report to senior management.
Technical Project Manager 4 $143,100 - $248,200
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, the Technical Project Manager 4 will be required to:
- Provide leadership and tactical planning for execution of large and/or highly complex project(s) and applies broad technical or operational knowledge and expertise to achieve project objectives.
- Apply broad knowledge and expertise in developing project plans and detailed work breakdown structures, negotiating work packages, and assigning various aspects of work to complete project deliverables.
- Use independent judgment to negotiate with program and line managers to ensure that resources are available to accomplish the work, to identify procurement and contracting needs, and to marshal resources to complete project deliverables within the scope, schedules, and budgets defined in project work packages
- Oversee large, multidisciplinary project team(s) in the planning, tracking, and execution of project plans from initiation to completion.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A Project Management Institute certification is desired for this level.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 12 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A Project Management Institute certification is desired for this level.
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of the technical and operational discipline of the ARIES program as executed in PF-4.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
- Previous experience in supporting work in a production agency.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Advanced technical degree.
- Willingness to take initiative on new tasks or projects.
- Technical writing consisting of periodic (monthly, quarterly, etc.) to DOE sponsors.
- Active HRP certification.
- Active DOE Q clearance.

Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
- Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
