JOB SUMMARY
Manages Technical Services areas for 24/7 print facility including Equipment & Facility Maintenance, Parts/Purchasing, Inventory, Budgeting, Production Systems Support and Environmental, Health & Safety. The Technical Services Manager provides project management and technical expertise to support the goals and objectives of the facility.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Services: Serve as subject matter expert for Work Orders/Equipment/PM functions in EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) System. Function as back-up business lead for Valassis for system and integration with Corporate Purchasing Systems. Provide process improvement expertise for maintenance and manufacturing. Document processes for employee training using electronic and hands on methods. Provide technical support for production computer systems such as Press Performance, Press Status, Tableau, mobile applications, and time keeping. Oversee and facilitate repairs/updates to our local area network, computer resources, and security systems. Develop, administer, and implement local policies in accordance with corporate guidelines. 45%
- Safety/Environmental: Serve as Safety/Emergency coordinator for HPD (role required by OSHA and Community Emergency Preparedness) Develop/Implement/Maintain/Train OSHA required safety programs including: Division Safety Committee, Confined Spaces, Emergency Action and Response, Fire Prevention, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Electrical Safety, Job Safety Analysis, Energy Hazard Analysis, Personal Protective Equipment, Incident Investigation/Incident Prevention, Programmed Inspections. Evaluate chemicals and new processes/projects for safety and environmental impact. Develop plans and procedures to eliminate and minimize risks. Maintain HPD’s Environmental Management System to support our legal and other requirements and our corporate sustainability goals. Maintain programs and procedures for Air Quality, Storm Water Prevention, Regulated Waste Management, Industrial Wastewater Discharge, Waste Minimization, Emergency Preparedness, Spill Prevention and Control. Facilitate periodic Industrial Hygiene surveys to evaluate workplace hazards such as air contaminants, noise and ergonomic hazards and develop corrective measures to control. 25%
- Budgeting / Financial: Develop/Implement/Monitor procedures to process payments for goods and services to conform to corporate guidelines. Develop procedures for and participate in the auditing process for fixed assets, raw materials, and spare parts inventories. Provide cost analysis and performance budget feedback to all departments. Develop and facilitate hourly employee step progression programs. Assist Plant Manager in developing Annual Departmental budgets. Provide cost analysis and performance budget feedback to all departments. 20%
- Personnel: Supervises, trains, and evaluates direct reports and may lead other supervisors/employees on projects. Coaches, mentors, and trains associates to ensure successful performance. Partners with direct reports to complete the Performance Management Process, establishing annual goals, and formally evaluating performance within established company timeframes. Makes recommendations on salary & wage decisions for direct reports. Utilizes recognition tools to reward strong performance. Manages associate relations issues, including but not limited to corrective actions and terminations as appropriate and in compliance with Company policies and procedures. Trains associates on proper work techniques to support established systems. Ensures certification of all associates utilizing material handling equipment. Participates in recruiting activities as required. Supports diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Educates others and builds a diverse workforce. Promotes, supports compliance initiatives, and participates in diversity programs at locations. Consistently and fairly administers company policies to ensure positive associate relations. Oversees payroll of department and ensure accuracy of hours worked and attendance. Other duties as assigned. 10%
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Associate / Bachelor’s degree (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
- 5 - 7 years' maintenance or related experience in a manufacturing setting. (Preferred)
- Previous environmental and safety management experience in a manufacturing setting. (Preferred)
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES
- Preferred Certifications/Licensures: (Machinist and Mechanical Maintenance or Electrical certification.)
- Forklift Certification a plus.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Acts as a subject matter expert with in-depth knowledge of areas of responsibility. First-hand working knowledge of all regulatory compliance programs (OSHA, EPA, etc.). Ability to seek cooperation, persuade and influence associates, peers, and internal/external customers.
- Proficient with tools including computerized maintenance management, project planning, data analysis, goal setting, lean manufacturing, 5S, summarizing and reporting results.

- Other systems utilized include Inventory Software, Manufacturing Software, and Order Processing systems.
COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS
Communicates at the branch with all levels of leadership and all associates both maintenance and non-maintenance.
Communicates at a company level with other Vericast leaders.
Communicates externally with both equipment and facilities contractors, and security/risk providers.
DECISION MAKING
Often makes decisions affecting plant wide operations with high budget impact and significant effect on associate work requirements.
OTHER
Functions as member of emergency response team providing equipment and utility shut down, sprinkler valve operation, and assistance to emergency personnel as required.

Additional Information
Annual Salary: $85,400K - $100,00K. Position is eligible for an annual bonus incentive program.
The ultimate compensation offered for the position will depend upon several factors such as skill level, cost of living, experience, and responsibilities.
