The Opportunity
This Technician, Sr. Mechanical position works out of our Sylmar, CA location.
Sr. Mechanical Technician performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of mechanical or electromechanical materials, devices, assemblies, subassemblies, systems. and products.
What You’ll Work On
Build or assemble prototype materials, component, subassembly and assembly
Construct, operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, maintain and test equipment, systems or products.
Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
Perform tests, analyze data and write reports.
Review or develop processing or manufacturing instructions.
Maintain detailed documentation through all phases of development, testing and analysis.
May assist in the transfer of technology and/or contribute in cross-functional discussions regarding device performance.
May provide work direction to other employees in work group.
Plan and organize project assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
Establish priorities of individual or project assignments.
Solve complex problems requiring extensive interpretation of procedures and practices to provide leadership in evolving projects.
Select methods and practices to solve problems using ingenuity, creativity, and a high degree of independent action and initiative.
Propose solutions independently; makes decisions on projects.
Develop and implement projects from concept to completion.
Required Qualifications
Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
Minimum 6 years of Related experience or equivalent combination of education and technical work experience. May also require a license or certification in the area of expertise.
Extensive knowledge of complex technical concepts and practices, and a complete understanding of product or systems fundamentals in a functional area, and working knowledge of other related disciplines.
Utilizes/interprets advanced numerical and statistical data and/or computer software programs to present documentation and analysis and resolve production, technical, or systems problems.
Perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
Perform complex or specialized technical assignments usually in the nature of projects, requiring working independently.
May design, develop, or modify area-specific equipment, materials, systems, and/or product.
Good judgment, high degree of initiative, creative approaches in troubleshooting, and making recommendations for continuous quality improvement of work methods for functional area.
