General Statement of Duties


  • Selected candidate will provide instruction to high school students interested in pursuing a career in television and media production
  • This is a 11 - month (239 Days) position.

Essential Duties


The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Instructs students in videography techniques and equipment for studio and off-site productions.
  • Assesses student work and alters instruction to meet group and individual needs
  • Possesses knowledge necessary to design, organize, and produce television programs
  • Instruction of video equipment including character generators, production switchers, editing systems, teleprompters, distribution amplifiers, studio and field cameras, audio mixers, lighting equipment
  • Instruction on the safety and use of drones or small unmanned aerial vehicles to be used for creation of video and media content
  • Maintain and troubleshoot media production equipment, to include but not limited to; broadcasting/recording equipment, studio wiring and control room, “forum”/event space at ACE at Hermitage
  • Selects and uses instructional materials for classroom use
  • Designs materials and student assessments for daily use in the classroom
  • Maintains and develops standard operating procedures for use of audio-visual and broadcasting equipment “forum”/event space at ACE at Hermitage
  • Ability to drive students to local off-site television production locations in county provided vehicles
  • Develop business and industry partnerships that support program goals
  • Sponsor an active student organization, Skills USA, and support student participation in competitions
  • Attends school and district events/functions as required for staff members
  • Confers with colleagues, students, and or parents on a regular basis
  • Takes all necessary precautions to protect and to maintain facilities, equipment, and materials
  • Emphasizes and enforces safety factors within the classroom, building, and throughout school property
  • As an extension of classroom management responsibilities supervises students throughout the school as assigned, or as circumstances require
  • Maintains a disciplined atmosphere appropriate to the teaching environment Establishes reasonable classroom rules with consistent enforcement occurring in a positive way


Minimum Qualifications


· Must hold or be eligible for a Technical Professional License in Television Production in the state of VA

· Bachelor's degree preferred in the area of television/communications, minimum three years television production experience

· Experience in working with directing/producing/editing television programs

· Knowledge of equipment/techniques/engineering used in television production and broadcast

· Experience in using Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premier, After Effects, Audition), Final Cut Pro

· Valid Virginia driver’s license and DMV report of clean driving record

· Physical strength and stamina to carry/load production equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

· CDL license preferred or willingness to obtain

Hold Part 107 Certificate through the Federal Aviation Administration or willingness to obtain within the first year, to allow for drone and small unmanned aerial vehicle instruction

Minimum *annual starting salary:
  • $62,440.13 (Bachelors)
  • $65,437.40 ( Masters)
