Manages the daily operational and administrative activities of the Protective Services Department.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to creation of strategic direction; directs and executes key strategic priorities; creates a metric driven environment; and partners with department and hospital leadership.
- Leads projects associated with strategic initiatives.
- Leads process improvement efforts and supports operations within assigned area.
- Responsible for administrative direction and operational control of assigned area of responsibility to include goal alignment, metrics, benchmarking, reports, best practices, process improvement, project management, performance management, long-range planning, and information management.
- Collaborates to solve problems with department and organizational leadership.
- Ensures policies and procedures are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Oversees the integration of technology to support optimal operational functions in area of responsibility.
- Effectively communicates with staff and leadership to support the goals and mission of the department.
- Challenges staff with opportunities to learn and grow; monitors professional development goals and achievement of staff.
- Responsible for leading an engaged team.
- Participates in development and execution of operational and capital budgets for areas of responsibility to support department projects, goals and new initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Associate degree required.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License (VDL) and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization's vehicles for emergency purposes.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Requires excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required to prepare and evaluate reports, interface with employees, and provide accurate feedback and testimony.
- Requires strong analytical skills to coordinate investigations, evaluate information and evidence and translate these for defense or prosecution or other criminal justice procedures.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience, including a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands require full body motion, physical strength and stamina sufficient to chase, apprehend, and subdue criminal suspects and to respond to crisis intervention with assisting medical staff in restraining combative patients and assist in medical situations and emergencies.
- Requires extensive walking and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Must have good eye/hand coordination and pass a required eye and hearing test.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
