Third Party Risk Manager - Risk, Compliance & Professional Standards
Background
The Risk, Compliance and Professional Standards (“RCPS”) department in Grant Thornton Ireland provides internal firm support services to all offices in Ireland in many specialist areas as follows:
  • Legal and data protection;
  • Client acceptance and continuance;
  • Audit methodology and accounting technical support;
  • Quality and risk management; and
  • Insolvency compliance;
RCPS provide strategic, innovative, creative and most importantly quality services and solutions to enable our people every day to give the best external client service. The RCPS team promotes and monitors compliance with applicable auditing and accounting standards, external laws and regulations as well as internal policies and procedures to help manage Grant Thornton’s regulatory, litigation and reputational risk.
RCPS includes our Legal & Data Protection team (“L&DP”) headed up by the firm’s Legal Counsel. L&DP are responsible for areas including commercial engagements, supplier and client due diligence questionnaires, claims and complaints, internal data protection compliance and general legal / data protection queries.
Opportunity
Due to continued growth within the firm, L&DP now requires a Third Party Risk Manager. This is a new role. The team member will play a critical role in managing the Supplier take on process and responses to Client Questionnaires. This is a key role within RCPS as it will assist with maintaining and demonstrating the risk adverse nature of the firm.
The Role:
  • Primary point of contact within the firm for the Supplier take On process; managing and monitoring the process to assess critical third parties on a recurring basis and during on-boarding. Working with IT to ensure the robustness of the process. Liaising directly with business units and suppliers to ensure successful completion of the process.
  • Managing the design of Supplier take on process using a risk based approach so that resources are focused on those third parties / risk areas that present the biggest threat / challenge to the business.
  • Act as primary point of contact for client questionnaires/assessments. Working with other Operations teams, including IT, HR, Marketing and Facilities to ensure the correct completion and timely response to client questionnaires.
  • Assess future tooling needs to help drive a consistent, and systematic approach to responding to client requests.
  • Help implement the framework and processes across the business, applying change management best practices, including use of engaging and effective communications and training.
  • Support and help implement the controls and supporting processes across the business in alignment with relevant standards (ISO 27001) to ensure ongoing compliance with related certifications.
  • Working within L&DP, assisted by Legal Administrator and reporting to Legal Counsel
Qualifications/Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years Third party management experience
  • Experience working with teams across the business such as procurement, legal, information security, business continuity and IT.
  • Knowledge of information security and IT Audit frameworks/standards such as ISO 27001.
  • Previous experience working in a large accountancy practice is highly desirable.
