As the Total Rewards Director for Bezos Academy, you will design, implement, and lead innovative compensation, benefits, and wellness programs for our rapidly-growing national organization. The total rewards program will be centered on our organizational values to support the overall wellbeing of all our people, as we build a network of tuition-free, Montessori inspired preschools nationwide. You will report directly to the Chief People Officer (CHRO) and serve as a key member of the People leadership team.
You will own the strategy and implementation of all people programs, policies, and procedures related to total rewards to attract and retain a talented workforce. You will collaborate with other leaders to drive equity and inclusion through the design and evolution of scalable programs that align with strategic objectives and market developments. You will expertly use data and analytics to generate insights, while ensuring all our processes drive fair and equitable outcomes. You bring a broad spectrum of knowledge to this position from your prior work in leadership roles, including overseeing compensation management tools and systems. You have also led rewards and annual compensation benchmarking processes, and ideally benefits planning, analysis, and administration. You have exceptionally strong business acumen, the ability to develop trusting and authentic relationships across lines of difference, and you are experienced at guiding and leading a rapidly growing and diverse workforce through exciting challenges and change.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, salaried position.
- The full salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $143,000 - $303,000 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview process, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable for their location.
- This role includes 15 paid days of vacation, 4 days of paid personal time off, 7 paid days of sick (care) time, 9 paid holidays, 5 paid days off for an organization-wide winter break, and additional time off if required by applicable law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Ten or more years of relevant experience designing, building and executing compensation and/or total rewards strategies including for a national (or global) workforce
- Track record of building and implementing, from scratch, compensation frameworks and innovative solutions to attract and retain top talent
- Experience working in fast paced, rapidly evolving organizations where talent is a top priority
- Experience leading the design and evolution of scalable total rewards programs aligned with strategic objectives and market developments, applying a DEI lens to attract and retain a diverse workforce and achieve equitable outcomes
- Experience overseeing compensation management tools and systems, including leading rewards and annual compensation benchmarking processes
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate data effectively, including intermediate proficiency in Excel (create reports using pivot tables, run v-lookups, duplicate check, run conditional formatting rules, create graphs, use most formulas) and ability to build and manage budgets, models etc.
- Exceptional detail orientation and ability to maintain highest level of integrity and discretion while working with confidential information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing and managing benefits programs, including budget, vendor, and broker responsibility
- Experience selecting and implementing new compensation management tools and systems
- Experience designing or evolving compensation strategy across a variety of employee populations (i.e., hourly, sales, executive, etc.)
- Strong business acumen and a track record of successfully presenting to and influencing a diverse group of stakeholders
- Subject matter expertise in federal and state laws and regulations, including FLSA, Sec 125, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, etc.
- Working knowledge of regulatory processes and policies for 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations
- Active CPP and CEBS or CBP certification
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (i.e., index match, VBA, macros, more advanced functions such as goal seek, automated error-checking, joining multiple workbooks, etc.)
- Proficiency in SQL
