The Dialogue across Difference (DxD) Training and Curriculum Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and facilitating WashU’s Intergroup Dialogue curriculum. The Training and Curriculum Specialist designs, delivers and evaluates workshops on topics including identity, social concepts/constructs, inclusion, and engagement across difference. The Training and Education Specialist is an experienced facilitator who is able to customize training, read one’s audience, and adapt creatively to the needs of a diverse group of stakeholders for DxD Programming.The DxD Programming will:
- Advance our ability to provide our students dialogue skills that aim to decrease polarization and increase understanding of each other’s experiences.
- Engage students across the identity spectrum and create opportunities for courageous conversations that will impact their growth as co-creators of the WashU community and engaged citizens in local and global contexts.
- Help students overcome barriers to difficult dialogues, strengthen the foundation of campus relationships, and support social and civic engagement at WashU.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops and facilitates progressive curricula and content for Washington University’s Dialogue across Difference (DxD) program; to include course curriculum, facilitate courses, and workshops.
- Recruits, develops, and manages a cadre of faculty/staff facilitators to serve as DxD course facilitators.
- Facilitates structured DxD workshops and accommodates ad-hoc workshop requests from students, faculty, staff, and campus groups (i.e., Resident Advisors, Washington University Student Associates, Teaching Assistants, student organizations, etc.).
- Regularly assesses DxD learning outcomes and evaluates training efforts; develops reports and recommendations based on findings.
- Serves on university-wide committees representing DxD and Center for Diversity and Inclusion.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree, preferably in a related field (i.e., higher education administration, college student personnel administration, student affairs, social work, social justice education, behavioral or social sciences, ethnic/gender studies, human resources, etc.) or a field incorporating relevant coursework.
- Five years of professional experience working with students or communities from traditionally underrepresented or marginalized populations, preferably in an educational setting.
- Three years of professional experience with outcomes assessment/evaluation.
- Experience in or an understanding of the role of student affairs in higher education.
- Experience with focusing on intergroup dialogue, diversity education, and/or identity-based work.
- Skills to advance Washington University’s commitment to diversity, freedom of expression, and openness to dialogue.
- Ability to assess the needs of students, faculty, and staff and offer appropriate support; experience with and commitment to working with individuals of diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, religious backgrounds, and people of various gender identities and/or sexual orientations.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, writing, oral communication, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to travel to various on- and off-campus locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Three years of experience with curriculum/content development and workshop facilitation with experience in developing content.
Grade
G10Salary Range
$47,300.00 - $78,200.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.Accommodation
