Position Description

Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) currently has a Training Officer I position available. Training Officers manage and coordinate training for a department, division or a geographic region of a department's statewide training function, supervising and conducting training sessions for both skill and general management development.


This position supports the Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) and Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) and is located in the Human Resources Department located at 1321 S. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas. Our Agency's mission is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life. Through a team approach, we provide innovative inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the southern Nevada community.


This position will prepare course descriptions, develop curriculum, provide training to employees, and serve as liaison to the Human Resources Department; conduct training needs assessment programs, analyze results and make recommendations; design and implement employee development programs; select and monitor the work of contracted trainers, and conduct skills training in specific occupational areas. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.


This is a full-time position with a work schedule of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday off.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational behavior, education, communications, business or public administration or related field and two years of professional experience in the adult and/or employee training and development process including experience planning and developing curriculum and coordinating and conducting formal training; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
