Job Purpose: Supports Credit Union staff in relation to lending by making informed underwriting decisions concerning consumer credit union loan applications.
Essential Job Results:
JOB SPECIFIC RESULTS
- Reviews credit applications for creditworthiness to ensure the member has the ability to repay the debt. This includes, but is not limited to:
- reviewing credit reports
- verifying debts on and off of the credit report
- calculating appropriate underwriting ratios, such as LTV and DTI
- analyzing members capacity to repay
- reviewing potential collateral and collateral value
- review and price loan rate appropriate to credit score and UKFCU policies
- Makes credit decisions by approving, denying or counter offering in an expedient manner; documenting supporting factors via notes to files; verifying additional application documentation as needed; and exploring other options for members as necessary.
- Supports Financial Services Officers and Indirect Loan Processors by explaining the decision of the applications as necessary. Review and respond to dealer messages that come through Indirect channel that factor into the decision of loan applications. Work with Indirect team to communicate stipulations and updates back to dealership when necessary.
- Supports Financial Services Officers and Indirect Loan Processors with assisting in the cross-selling of products by reviewing credit files and applications to ensure the members are presented with the best options for lending products.
GENERAL MEMBER CONTACT STAFF RESULTS
- Maintains account records by updating member information as necessary.
- When directly serving members, cross-sells credit union services by answering inquiries, actively informing members of new services and product promotions, ascertaining members needs, directing members to other staff as appropriate.

- Maintains member and employee confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential and sharing on a business-related as-needed basis only.
- Engages in problem resolution by clarifying the members and/or employees complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution; and keeping the supervisor informed of problems and solutions.
- Complies with UKFCU policies and procedures by enforcing and adhering to internal UKFCU procedures and board-established policies.
- Complies with federal, state and local regulations and legal requirements by enforcing and adhering to requirements.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by maintaining an awareness of competitors rates and terms, industry trends and technology; attending staff meetings; identifying opportunities to attend seminars that enhance skills and maintain knowledge of new products that could assist in improving operational effectiveness; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; and participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing corporate and individual goals and other related results as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Two to five years of similar or related experience preferred.
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
- Ten-key calculator, general PC and computer keyboarding experience.
- Ability to communicate with others one-on-one; fielding questions, explaining decisions, and responding to complaints.
- Ability to work with other employees.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions while dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to write reports, correspondence and procedures.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to be self-motivated.
- Ability to work with strict deadlines and under pressure.
