Reporting to the Lifeways Center Manager, the Universal Worker will be responsible for providing direct support to various departments within the Lifeways Center PACE program including transportation, reception, kitchen, health clinic and activities to meet the operational demands of the PACE program. Other key duties and responsibilities of the position include, but may not be limited to:

  • Providing personal care and assistance including feeding, transfers, toileting and ambulation (using EZ stand/Hoyer Lift)
  • Assisting clinic staff in prepping participants for medical treatments clinical care. Tasks may include assisting participants with personal care
  • Assisting participants with basic range of motion; routine therapeutic activities and exercise as directed by therapists
  • Monitoring the safety and welfare of clients by close observation, interaction and adherence to program policies and schedules
  • Assisting with all general activities at the center to meet participants’ needs when necessary including personal care, transportation, meal service and other duties as assigned
  • Assisting with large and small-scale group activities such as exercises, news discussions, arts and crafts, music, cultural groups, cognitive groups and community outings
  • Screening and greeting visitors, accepting deliveries, operating delayed egress alarm and monitoring/redirecting wandering clients from the lobby and Bridge door areas
  • Distributing mail and deliveries to staff
  • Assisting participants safely to and from their homes to the center and to and from medical appointments.
  • Escorting clients up or down stairs.
  • Assisting with distribution of proper food portions, temperatures, and dietary needs of clients
  • Adhering to ADHC licensing requirements, including proper storage and labeling of all foods
  • Cleaning kitchen dishware and cooking equipment daily in accordance with proper sanitation techniques
  • Monitoring client’s equipment and reporting minor repair needs or equipment ordering
  • Assisting with bringing participants to other areas of the day health center as needed
  • Providing administrative and clerical support in the clinic by answering phones and retrieving messages for the clinic, physicians and nurses, as well as communicating participant’s status and/or concerns

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school or equivalency diploma
  • Sincere interest in working with frail seniors and adults with disabilities
  • Computer literacy
  • One-year experience in working with the geriatric population

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed/additional coursework in allied health subjects.
  • Interest and willingness to work in a diverse multilingual and multicultural environment
  • Ability to follow directions without constant supervision
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish, Russian and/or Chinese languages
  • EPIC electronic medical records experience highly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift, transfer, push/pull, maneuver and reposition 35 lbs.
  • Ability to reach, bend and walk
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Five finger dexterities

COMPENSATION

  • Range: $17 - $22/hour

This amount is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee, which is always dependent on actual experience, education and other factors.
