ORC is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Utilities Right of Way Title Researcher to work on projects in Indiana. Candidate must reside in the state of Indiana but will have the flexibility to work remotely from their home office.

The title researcher is responsible for searching real estate records online and in client databases. Must be proficient at reading deeds, legal descriptions, plats, easements, and searching parcel data.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Compiling information into a client provided title document
  • Performing general administrative / clerical work
  • Preparing information for legal documents, reports and correspondence
  • Entering and retrieving computer data
  • Copying and filing documents for file management
  • Verbal and written communications with customers
  • The ability to understand work order prints/maps in order to perform research
  • Utilizing the client's database and software to research property information for preexisting easements
  • Providing documentation of research findings to landowners

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of Right of Way experience
  • Must live in Indiana
  • Experience researching real estate documents to determine property ownership including:
    • Deeds of record, tax records and/or probate
    • Ability to read and understand real estate terminology
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically:
    • Excel - able to add/delete rows and columns, sort and filter, search for data within a workbook and other basic formatting
    • Word – must be able to format documents and letters, and track changes made to documents; must be able to upload documents into a shared online database, such as Dropbox or equivalent
    • Outlook – create/maintain outlook calendar; effectively sort and organize outlook emails
    • Dropbox – create/maintain files within electronic database
  • Must have an iOS or Android smartphone to be able to access ORC's systems
  • English language proficient
  • Valid Driver’s License

Per diem and/or relocation will not be provided.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in person, via phone and email. Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers due to high amounts of computer usage and typing. Expected to spend long spans of time in front of a computer screen. Able to read, understand and interpret department related documents and data. This is a largely sedentary role; however, the employee occasionally is required to move about inside the office to access files, office equipment and to interact with other members of the staff. This employee is required to occasionally travel to government buildings which involves time driving; sometimes for long durations.
