Your Impact at SAM:
- Establish work plan and staffing requirements for multiple utility design projects;
- Experience with City of Austin, TxDOT, and local utilities design criteria;
- Strong background in all aspects of fiber design;
- Oversees writing of scope, budget, and QAQC;
- Identify and participate in planning and implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency;
- Review performance data (financial, budgets, sales and activity reports) to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress and activity levels;
- Monitor and develop professional staff to maximize their potential;
- Develop RFQs and fee proposals;
- Work with Market Leads and Market Managers to establish plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the market area;
- Develop and conduct presentations to clients and other critical stakeholders;
- Effectively interface with sub-consultants and as well as other business relationships;
- Provide support to other operational units as needed;
- Represent company interests while in meetings and trade shows as needed;
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, construction schedules and other construction documents for clarity, completeness, sequence and constructability;
- Supports the Company to achieve its vision and mission, while successfully practicing its core values related to employees, ethics, operational excellence, safety, integrity and corporate social responsibility;
- Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company’s strategic goals;
- This position has direct supervisory responsibilities of employees to include mentoring, coaching, and counseling staff as needed.
- A licensed Professional Engineer or ability to be licensed in Texas within 6 months from the employment date is required
- Degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field desired but not required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience related to utility design
- 4+ years of responsible charge experience as a Project Engineer and/or Project Manager on utility design projects with emphasis on Fiber design is preferred
- Experience creating utility plan and profile drawings
- Strong utility relocation background with abandonment, and adjustments for water, sanitary, storm sewer, natural gas distribution and transmission experience is a plus.
- Capable of leading a project team
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Bentley OpenRoads experience preferred
- Proficient in MS Word / Excel / Outlook
- Self-starter with strong oral and written communications skills
- Detail oriented, proactive individual who takes ownership of their work
- Must be comfortable in both professional office and field work environments
- Motivated to develop business from new and existing clients
- Possess an extensive understanding of utility design standards and practices
- Able to create and manage project schedules
- Skilled in client relations and customer service
- Basic understanding of fundamental cost accounting practices
- Excellent listening, communication and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and quality
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
