Position Summary
The School of Nursing is looking to hire two (2) Variable Hour Officers -Research Coordinator to work in a research capacity on an NIH-funded study testing the impact of an asthma intervention with teenagers in NYC high schools. Most of the duties will occur in the schools with some office work and periodic night and weekend work as well. Targeted high schools are located in the Bronx, Queens, and northern and midtown Manhattan, and the incumbent must be able to travel to these schools.
Responsibilities
Specific tasks for this position entail:
Proctoring intervention sessions with adolescents.
Photocopying study materials.
Interviewing students in person and/or by phone or Zoom, and their caregivers by phone or Zoom.
Entering data, and performing other tasks as needed.
This position will last up to 12 months. The hours will vary depending on the individual's availability.
This is a grant funded position. Continued employment is based on availability of funding.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of related experience.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to present information to groups of teenagers (i.e., make classroom presentations).
Must be able to travel between Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx currently, which may expand to other boroughs.
Ability to work in the schools a few days a week during the high school day, which is typically 8 – 3pm.
Ability to work some nights/weekends to follow up with teenagers and/or interview parents.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in psychology, public health, or related field.
Experience working with children or adolescents.
Prior research experience is a plus; course work and/or school thesis are considered acceptable research experiences.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
