Under general direction, the Verification Specialist, performs outbound calls to verify the data of job applicants’ education and employment history and interviews former supervisors and references. This role will flag and re-verify discrepancies through appropriate sources and channels. Strong organization and prioritization skills, high attention to detail, effective time management and able to adhere to all Departmental procedures and Fair Credit Reporting Act regulations are all key components of this role.

Hours: 20 Hours Per Week (4 hours per day/5 days per week). Preferably afternoon hours (1pm - 5pm Eastern Time)

The ideal candidate has a customer-first mindset and aims to deliver high-quality service in every customer interaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Outbound calling to verify job applicants’ education and employment history and researches any discrepancies in cases in an accurate and timely manner.
  • The Verification Specialist will need to maintain an acceptable outbound call average will maintain quality of call attempts in accordance with departments KPI’s.
  • Processes verification templates, making sure all forms are filled out properly and completely, along with properly documenting notes in the proprietary database system.
  • The role is responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with multiple internal clients and communicates to all levels of management regarding the company, client information and/or general questions or concerns.
  • Conducts all duties in accordance with FA policies, Fair Credit Reporting Act and any other state and federal laws.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

1+ years’ experience with Verifications/Background Checks/Research preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:

  • Excellent communication/customer service skills.
  • Comfort with phone communication as main means of obtaining and confirming applicant information.
  • Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritizes, self-motivate, and effectively manage work schedule.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills – Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

This role is largely a sedentary in nature and involves sitting for long periods of time. The role requires the ability to hear and talk as well as to see data and adjust visual focus for computer and paper tasks, read, type, lift and/or carry equipment and files up to 20 pounds, walk, bend or stand as necessary.
