Position: Classroom Support (Head Start)

Our organization, Rural Utah Child Development (RUCD), needs you in our Classroom Support role. This important support role requires a friendly, understanding, willing and composed team player. Being a valued member of our team, your service-oriented approach will help in building positive and collaborative relationships in and out of the classroom. Daily cadence will be somewhat predictable; therefore, your high level of patience will match the long-term consistency of daily tasks.

• Highly predictable, work can be planned in advance and usually executed without distraction
• Even paced relatively unhurried, allowing time to interact with others
• Socially focused relationships based on unselfish concern for others warmth, empathy, and helpfulness

What we offer:

• part-time, 25-hour workweek
• Starting wage at $14.55 hour (additional education will be considered in final pay rate)
• Paid holidays and vacation time

What you'll do:

• Shares active supervision duties with other teaching staff and follows the universal active supervision plan. Will take the place of the teacher's responsibilities if they are not in the room.
• Will be involved in assisting with behavior support as needed. Follow the guidelines outlined by the behavior specialist as required.
• Assist the teachers in participating in the classroom activities as outlined in the lesson plans.
• Assist in the preparation of materials for daily activities.
• Eats breakfast, snack, and lunch with the children while sitting at the table family style. Mealtimes must be structured and used as learning opportunities that support teaching staff-child interactions and foster communications and conversations that contribute to a child's learning, development, and socialization.
• Under the direction of the teacher, directs activities with the classroom or in small groups of children for story time, large group time, plan-do-review, other parts of the daily routine, and takes notes as requested
