We have a position in our TROOPs Program (Training Reintegration Outreach and Opportunity) for a skilled full-time Veteran Employment Supportive Services Specialist to work with veterans and compassionately assist them in transferring their valuable military skills and qualifications into a business-focused resume that allows them to transition into the world of world outside the forces. Job Title: Veteran Employment Supportive Services Specialist

Department: TROOPS

Reports to: TROOPS Manager and Program Director

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Full-Time

Summary: TROOPS, Training Reintegration Outreach and Opportunity Program Services is funded by a Department of Labor grant that is submitted annually for renewal. The Veteran Employment Supportive Services Specialist responsibilities include but are not limited to providing resources and supportive services for the exited and newly enrolled Veteran participants to remove barriers to employment. Performs on-going follow-up/case management and maintains follow-up contact with the exited Veteran participants to ensure job placement retention, request required documentation to support employment (e.g. pay stubs, etc.) and address any current barriers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following as well as other duties that may be assigned:

  • The VESSS will assist with mandatory co-enrollment meetings with Veteran and DVOP at local AJCs, when necessary.
  • The VESSS will work closely with Program Manager to maintain standardized operational processes relating to the issuing of supportive services, follow-up tracking and to ensure compliance with grant requirements and policy and procedures.
  • VESSS provides employment related services as well as recruiting and training services as needed.
  • Provides training and career development services as needed.
  • Attends weekly case conference meetings, VA case conference meetings and various community provider meetings.
  • Generates monthly reports for Program Manager and fiscal department to ensure grant funds are being utilized per grant requirements and to support accurate spending of grant funds.
  • Assist team with orientations and attends job fairs and builds a rapport with hiring managers, as needed.
  • Attends weekly TROOPS staff meetings and provides status report for enrolled and exited participants.
  • Attend webinars and trainings relative to grant and position.
  • Provides oversight of supportive services for exited and enrolled Veteran participants and distributes the following items to participants: Marta cards, gas cards, incentive cards and other supportive services.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly follow-up of exited and enrolled participants.
  • Submits all financial requisitions to Program Director and fiscal for approval, once approved by Program Manager.
  • Audits exited participant charts to ensure Veterans are provided with needed services per grant requirements.
  • Provides project management and administrative support for fund-raisers, events and workshops.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree, preferably in a field such as Business, Vocational Rehabilitation, Special Education, Counseling or Human Services field, with relevant budgeting/bookkeeping experience preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, and strong organization and time management skills required.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration:

Must maintain CEUs for license if applicable. Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal history fingerprinting background check. Current/Valid State of Georgia driver’s license with a good driving record. This candidate is reimbursed for travel via this grant and may be driving for business purpose.

Salary: $38,350 per year with annual increases.
