The VP, Packaging leads all packaging businesses located across the United States and Mexico. This role is responsible for driving growth and desired operational and financial business results.

Additionally, this role is a senior leadership position within LDI and will lead and/or contribute to assigned corporate objectives while directly leading assigned General Managers and Business Unit Leaders.

This position reports directly to the CEO and is located in Minneapolis, MN, and will include frequent travel to company locations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides direct leadership to packaging leaders across the U.S. and Mexico.
  • Works with general managers to establish strategic plans and operating/financial plans for the short and long term.
  • Ensures that packaging businesses are performing to plan; drives results through goal setting and resource allocation.
  • Builds strategic relationships with key customers across the business.
  • Works with General Managers/Business Unit leaders, Sales leaders, Finance leaders, and HR leaders to plan for new opportunities within the region.
  • In partnership with the VP, of Business Development and other LDI team members, seeks growth/acquisition targets to drive growth.
  • Drives the optimization of manufacturing and business processes to position all businesses for growth and success.
  • Serves as a strong representative of LDI/Liberty Packaging in the industry and communities at large.
  • Brings industry expertise to the overall LDI organization working across all businesses to drive growth and solve business issues.
  • Communicates frequently across the business unit, providing strong leadership and key business updates to direct and indirect reports.
  • Collaborates with peers to create overall value to LDI including other LDI Business Unit and functional leaders.
  • Creates go to market packaging strategy aligned to LDI enterprise strategy.
  • Leads and supports a culture committed to LDI CITE values.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • 10+ years of packaging or closely related industry leadership experience, preferably across multiple locations that are comparably sized to those within the LDI family of companies.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in a business discipline.
  • Previous P&L responsibility
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of successful coaching and mentoring relationships.
  • Ability to manage and develop leaders within the organization. Has a track record of growing succession talent and promoting when possible
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to inspire, motivate and persuade with a compelling and dynamic communication style
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including capital planning
  • Experience leading multiple functional areas: sales, operations, Human Resources, Finance, EHS.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  • Union environment experience
  • Balanced commercial and operations experience in the corrugate packaging industry
  • Proven track record delivering growth in the corrugate packaging market
  • Private company experience
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial success
