Job Summary
The Vice President of Business Development is responsible implementing the BD strategy to drive profitable revenue growth, identifying and pursuing new business as well as the maintenance and growth of existing customers.
They are also responsible for the management of the business development, marketing, and strategy organizations. Overseeing the development of sales plans which lead to revenue growth, enhanced profit margins, and increased market share for the business.
The Vice President of Business Development is a strategic business enablement leader that supports operations, working with customers, senior leadership, and cross functional resources throughout the organization.
Reports To: Executive Vice President MasTec Energy Solutions
Responsibilities:
- Identify sales opportunities through industry research, client relations, media monitoring, and industry conferences and events.
- Obtain a deep knowledge of customer organizations and understand their needs. Develop strong relationships with key decision makers.
- Create strategies to position the company as the preferred utility infrastructure solutions partner
- Develop and lead sales opportunities from identification through post bid submittal
- Engage in prequalification and proposal development activities
- Maintain accurate contact and opportunity records in Salesforce.com
- Partner with Sr Leadership to ensure strategy execution
- Lead/facilitate strategic planning process fostering collaboration across the business segment
- Manage an effective external/internal communication platform to promote awareness and drive alignment and engagement on strategic priorities and initiatives.
- Responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating organizational functions related to growth and initiatives within the business, as well as community involvement to meet the stated mission, vision and values of the organization.
- Be a key source and proponent of Safety and promote Safety Leadership
- Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise team members.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Science, Engineering, or a related major, or equivalent.
- 10 or more years of experience.
- Operational leadership and project management experience in the utility sector is preferred with utilities experience essential. Large scale projects and MSA execution in the region or adjacent markets in challenging conditions essential.

- Belief in the critical importance of safety and willingness to take the practical actions necessary to ensure that workplace accidents, injuries, and illnesses are minimized. Knowledge of industry-related and OSHA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- An MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant field of study.
- A combination of education with technical training and experience.
