The Field Vice President (FVP), Reimbursement is accountable for the development and management of the ViiV US Field Reimbursement Team. As a team leader and member of the US Market Access Leadership Team, this position plays a critical role educating and supporting customers to establish the required capabilities and infrastructure to initiate and maintain patients on long-acting injectables (LAIs) for both the treatment and prevention of HIV, influencing senior stakeholders and enabling long term patient access through strategic execution. The FVP, Reimbursement must demonstrate deep technical understanding of medical and pharmacy coverage, coding, payment and distribution of specialty products and the rules and regulations that govern provision of reimbursement support. Position reports to Vice President, US Market Access and is field-based.
This role will provide/gives YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following…
- Execute & Manage Reimbursement Strategies: Accountable for the development, implementation, execution and management of reimbursement strategies across the US reimbursement function. Educate senior leadership on reimbursement dynamics. Team responsibilities include:
- Implementation education and support
- Educate on LAI protocols and facilitate in-person training, SP ordering, and internal pharmacy set-up
- Educates non-clinical staff on coding, billing, claim submission, and acquisition pathway matters
- Pulls-through payer access information and helps customers navigate the local access environment
- Implementation issue resolution
- Investigates and determines root cause of implementation challenges identified and facilitates issue resolution
- Ensures timely communications with field counterparts to provide updates, shares learnings, and identify forward-looking opportunities for proactive implementation or clinical education
- Implementation education and support
- Lead & Inspire Teams: Recruit, hire, manage, coach and inspire highly qualified and effective Field Reimbursement Directors and indirect report(s). Gain insights and ensure aligned prioritization, communication and collaboration with customers and cross-functional teams (eg, Hub, Sales, Medical Affairs, Payer Field Teams, Marketing, etc.) Identify and address training, performance, and competency needs to support achievement of business objectives
- Set, Inspect & Coach to Expectations: Set expectations with field reimbursement team, establish robust account plans, monitor activity and performance measures, coach and develop team leaders and field reimbursement managers.
- Expand Organizational Reimbursement Engagements & Capabilities: Establish relationships with key accounts. Identify and plan for key environmental shifts impacting access for HIV treatment and prevention. Remain up to date on current reimbursement trends, best practices, and customer learnings and update strategies to ensure that ViiV has a future forward industry-leading approach.
- Operate in line with Legal and Compliance policies, procedures and guidelines: Conduct management monitoring to identify and address areas of organizational risk (eg, periodic records reviews, audits, etc. Confirm all activities are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidelines, policies and procedures governing commercial and field reimbursement.

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10+ years of US-based pharmaceutical industry experience in reimbursement, managed markets, specialty pharmacy operations, or commercial
- 3 plus years of first line leadership experience in Field Reimbursement
- Knowledge and experience with specialty drug reimbursement
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory environment
- Ability to travel up to 70%; including key engagements at ViiV US offices in Durham, NC
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- 5 plus years of first line leadership experience in Field Reimbursement or developing/providing coverage, coding and payment information to provider customers for specialty injectable/infusible medicines
- Thorough understanding of the technical payer policy processes, systems and requirements for coverage, coding and payment for specialty injectable/infusible medicines
- Demonstrated understanding of the rules, regulation and risks associated with provision of reimbursement support services and how to monitor and mitigate for those risks
- Experience training and developing others to understand the technical payer policy processes, systems and requirements for coverage, coding and payment for specialty injectable/infusible medicines
- Strong understanding and ability to communicate technical elements of coding and billing requirements at the National and Regional level across all settings of care
- Comprehensive understanding of Medicare (Parts A, B, C and D), Medicaid, ADAP, Commercial Insurance and their associated reimbursement dynamics
- Strong understanding of drug acquisition and dispensing in the specialty injectable/infusible space (role of Buy and Bill, Specialty Pharmacies, Specialty Distributors, etc.)
- Strong understanding of third-party reimbursement support service vendors and how to effectively interact in a compliant fashion
- Track record of strong leadership contributions
- Experience managing, motivating ,coaching and developing direct reports
- Experience in or understanding of the HIV therapeutic area
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal & presentation) with the ability to succinctly communicate complex information and present effectively to large groups and senior leaders
- Strong interpersonal skills required with proven ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships, work well in cross-functional teams, and to lead & influence across matrixed organizations (including influencing without authority)
- Demonstrated learning agility with a high level of curiosity and motivation to manage complexity and solve problems in ambiguous environments
- Strong strategic thinking skills and demonstrated ability to translate customer, competitive, and environmental insights into strategy and tactical plans
