Position Title: Vocational Coordinator
Program/Dept: Pro-Touch / Social Enterprise

Classification: Regular Full Time, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $17.00 Hourly
Agency Description: Caminar is a nonprofit agency with over 50 years of experience providing community-based support services for people with disabilities. Caminar services are designed to enable adults and older adults with mental health, physical and developmental disabilities to live and work in their community in accordance with their ability and desire. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities by providing opportunities to live in the community with dignity and independence. The agency employs approximately 300 of the most dedicated and professional staff serving the communities of San Mateo, San Francisco, Solano and Butte counties.
Position Description: The Vocational Coordinator oversees the work training of crew who are Behavioral Health clients and may be entering the workplace for the first time or returning to work. Training includes appropriate workplace language, behavior and socialization as well as vocational skills in janitorial and lawn services. The Vocational Coordinator will pick up the crew each morning and drive them to each customer work site, supervise and socialize with the crew until the job has been satisfactorily completed before driving crew back to meeting site. Once crew has clocked out Vocational Coordinator will manage all Pro-Touch work supplies and then assist Avenida Apartments Resident Manager as needed. Other job duties are described below.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct reports include approximately 12 supported employees comprised of temporary/part time work crews.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the overall program; help ensure quality assurance under CARF standards.
- Supervise vocational work crews who may perform tasks including janitorial/ lawn service duties.
- Provide coaching and training to crew members to ensure they complete these tasks at a level consistent with accepted standards.
- Work with Department of Behavioral Health to identify and select potential crew candidates. Upon selection, assist with completing on-boarding process. Work Crew members are classified as Temporary, Part-Time employees of Caminar whose normal duration of employment is approximately 9 months.
- Provide orientation and training to new members on the crew; identify and develop reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities who may require such.
- Maintain a safe, healthy and clean working environment at all times consistent with applicable laws, standards and the agency’s own Health & Safety Program.
- Develop and assign weekly schedules for the crew members.
- Organize and maintain supplies for the janitorial, work crew; order supplies as needed.
- Assist clients with moving; provide support with organizing, packing, loading and unloading boxes.
- Record job orders and assist with the invoicing process ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Serve as a liaison to the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) to ensure proper coordination of services and a positive and mutually rewarding relationship between DBH and Caminar; attend meetings with DBH representatives on a regular basis.
- Develop appropriate and beneficial contacts in the community to create further employment opportunities for members in the work crew.
- Serve as “back up” for the work crew, as needed.
- Assist Avenida Apartment and Base Camp Village Resident Managers with janitorial and landscaping tasks as needed.
- Assist with the facilitation of referrals to Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) by regularly communicating with DBH coordinators and making the referral recommendations to DOR.
- Ensures appropriate maintenance and safeguarding of petty cash and other program funds. Review and approve accurate monthly accounting of these funds ensuring they balance properly and that all receipts are submitted to the Accounting Department in a timely manner.
- Attend Caminar’s organizational team meetings and other assigned trainings or meetings.
- Drive own or agency vehicle to main office, meetings, and other venues, as required; documenting and reporting mileage according to agency procedures, so that services can be provided in a timely manner; comply with agency vehicle policy at all times.
- Ensure that the program's vehicle (if applicable) is properly maintained and serviced and that staff are properly trained and oriented to its use.
- Tow Caminar owned open trailer and enclosed trailer to work sites and back.
- Complete and submit accurate time sheets and absence reports to program management in a timely manner.

Requirements, Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be passionate about Caminar's mission.
- High School Diploma or GED is required. BA preferred.
- Prior work experience supervising a team and working with people who have a disability is preferred.
- Handyman skills strongly preferred.
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including email and Internet navigation required. Experience managing web-based time and attendance preferred.

Physical, Environmental and Mental Requirements:
- Physical: Occasionally required to push/pull objects up to 50 lbs, and to lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, etc. Must be able to walk, stand, sit for extended periods.
- Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and plans. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with residents and staff, etc. Must be able to speak clearly and understand/be understood using the English language.
- Cognitive: Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption. Must be able to attend to a task/function for 20-45 minutes at a time. Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, several at a time. Must be able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over a period of several days.
- Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office and mixed (residential/office) environments. Occasional exposure to toxins and poisonous substances, dust, and loud noises.
- Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone, and fax machine.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by Title XXII, other licensing regulations, and Caminar practices.
- This position requires frequent driving. A valid California driver license, reliable personal vehicle, current personal auto insurance as required by law, and a Motor Vehicle Record sufficient to obtain and reasonably maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies are all essential job requirements.
- Must be able to pass post offer, pre-employment medical and drug tests as required under State Community Care Licensing regulations and/or agency policies.
- A personal cell phone with reliable service and, if applicable, a data plan to use for business purposes.
- May be required to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
