A General Manager in Training is someone who is being prepared for higher level management responsibilities in operations. This position strategizes and oversees the implementation of tactical objectives for greatest results, and continuous improvement. While the incumbent is in this role he or she will be exposed to actual financial and operational activities and may temporarily manage several departments in the facility.Schedule: Monday - Friday - schedule will vary depending on the needs of the business; position will be on call outside of designated working hours

Pay range: $65,478.40 - $78,400 per year
The Company offers 401(k), health, vision, dental, disability, and life insurance benefits subject to eligibility requirements as well as vacation time accrued based on length of service.
This position may be eligible for an annual bonus based on a percentage of base compensation, subject to eligibility criteria and other factors determined by the Company.
Responsibilities of the General Manager in Training:
1. Shadows facility and works directly with department management to see how they lead Operations in the execution of business plans and strategies.
2. Learns about the facilities financial performance and adjusts strategies accordingly – provides input as required.
3. Researches opportunities for improvement of key metrics and executes action plans to achieve results.
4. Learns all aspects of line haul logistics coordination, Pick-Up and Delivery, and intricacies of Vendor Relations and Vendor model.
5. Strives to have an engaged workforce; implements programs to improve morale.
6. Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Program.
7. Develops relationship and understanding of the facility security program.
8. Leadership responsibilities include but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, performance management, discipline, addressing employee concerns and staff productivity.
Organizational Relationship:
Mentored and trained by Regional General Manager, Directors and General Managers and works closely with facility department supervisors.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in warehouse environment. The noise level is usually moderate.
Physical Demands while performing the duties of this job:
- The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The physical activity associated with this position is considered high. The employee will occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move items averaging 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- College degree preferred.
- Three years of management experience, two in similar industry; or equivalent combination of both education and specific work experience.
- Five years of industry experience; or less with Bachelor’s Degree.
- Knowledge of OnTrac business and processes.
- Above average skills in Microsoft Windows applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Must be willing and able to relocate.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and other simple mathematical computations.
