Independent Aftermarket Warehouse Lead – Charlotte Metropolitan Area

Job Summary:

The IAM Warehouse Lead position is on 2nd shift which is from 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. There may be opportunities to work some overtime on weekends.

Provides working leadership to the assigned area by coordinating the supply and movement of parts and materials throughout the department and assisting wherever needed to answer questions, give instructions, train employees, and operates forklifts to complete the department processes. Provides assistance to the warehouse manager in such a manner as to expedite shipments, maintain shipping procedures and overall department efficiency and housekeeping.

Essential Job Functions:

· Receives shipping instructions from the customer service department daily.

· Coordinates customer shipments by communicating requirements to department personnel, manufacturing, and production scheduling to complete customer shipping requirements.

· Notifies other departments of regular and special materials needed.

· Assists throughout the department by answering questions, solving work related problems, giving instructions, and training new department employees.

· Monitors department equipment to assure proper operations and inform the warehouse manager of any maintenance needs.

· Complete ASN transactions, shipping bill of lading and maintain files of completed shipments daily.

· Oversees all processes in the department to assure labeling and scanning procedures are maintained as specified by the customer.

· Make calls to carriers for the daily pick up of shipments and follow up with different carriers to maintain the cheapest rates for expedited shipments.

· Schedule emergency repairs for forklifts as results of unexpected breakdowns,

· Complete required documents, hazardous materials, export SLI and commercial invoices for specified shipments

· Ensures that work area housekeeping is well maintained.

Secondary Job Functions:

· Ensures that work area housekeeping is well maintained.

· Advises the warehouse manager the status of shipments and related department information.

· Performs other duties as requested by the warehouse manager.

Education, Training, Certifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

· 1-5 years of experience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

· Demonstrated history of performance in achieving business objectives.

· Experience working with computers and production planning software, SAP preferred.

· Must be able to work in an environment of continuous change.

· An employee with the above job knowledge and previous work experience in the area should be proficient in the lead operator’s position after six to nine months.

Job Knowledge and Skills

· Must have good communication skills and be able to direct and coordinate the work of others.

· Must have a complete working knowledge of every job in the department.

· Must be familiar with the various company products, terminology, identification of parts, and company shipping standards.

· Must be skilled in industrial truck handling.

· Must be able to read and interpret all shipping instructions.

· Must be able to perform basic math functions and have basic computer skills.

Initiative

· The production schedule and manager set daily priorities. Initiative and organization are required to coordinate department work efforts to meet these priorities and accomplish occasional unexpected changes in the schedule.

Physical, Mental and Visual Effort

· Moderate physical effort required frequently lifting and moving average weight material. Occasional lifting and placement of heavy tooling, sometimes in difficult work positions.

Working Conditions

· Warehouse environment with continuous forklift operation present

· Standing, walking, and bending will be performed for the entire shift.

· Exposure to dust and a variety of weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, etc.)

· Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
