OpenDoors is looking for a Warming Station/Shelter Security position to assist with providing security to our warming station at 1139 Main Street. This position will be primarily stationed outside the building but will also assist with security issues inside.

We are looking for full-time and part-time, 3rd shift throughout the week and also two weekend/2nd shift hours.

-->Note: OpenDoors offers a health-care stipend that is added to each check as an additional $1.75/hr. That figure is included in the estimate of the $16.75-$18.75 wage listed. Not including that stipend, the position pays $15.00-$17.00/hr. Rate is based on experience. OpenDoors also offers a 401(k) with a 3% match.

The security position is responsible for providing evening and overnight security to a 50 person capacity warming station. The position will work in tandem with three other shelter monitors. Experience with de-escalation, rule enforcement, and providing security with a similar population, including people in active addiction, is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist with resident intakes, including searches and information collection.
• Communicates with colleagues, including over email about house updates
• Monitors and inspects shelter, including bed checks.
• Enters case notes and log in online tracking system every shift.
• Enforces shelter rules, including drug and medicine policies, drug screening, and attendance.
• Responds to crisis, fills out incident report, and discusses incidents with Program Manager.
• Provides ongoing support and engagement with residents as much as possible.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
• Experience working with this population is preferred
• Experience providing security or residential supervision is required
• For late night hours, bus transportation will not always be possible, so personal transportation from work is necessary in those cases.
• Basic computer literacy, including email and google.
