Overview:
This position is for an entry level Civil Engineer that will be working in a municipal permit center. The position is approximately half time onsite and half time remote. Training in permit processes and procedures will be provided.
Responsibilities:
The duties include the following:

  • Review and check plans submitted by private developers and the general public for appropriate stormwater pollution control systems to address the identified sources of pollutants.
  • Review and check hydrologic and hydraulic calculations submitted by private engineers to ensure stormwater pollution control systems are properly sized for flow and treatment capacity.
  • Identify applicable stormwater pollution mitigation requirements to private developers and the general public as part of the plan approval process.
  • Coordinate with the Departments of Building and Safety and Planning in the review and approval of plans submitted for proposed developments.
  • Execute final approval of submitted plans.
  • Provide training on Best Management Practices (BMP) design requirements to City staff involved in new development projects.
  • Maintain a database that documents information such as, LID project category and BMP type, on all submitted development plans that require stormwater pollution mitigation measures.
  • Monitor, report, and optimize the response time for approval of submitted plans.
Qualifications:
  • Requirements: BS degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Entry level role.
  • Role is two to three days in the office in Los Angeles.
