Description
This position requires a strong interest in wine and a passion for serving customers. To be successful, you will need to be detail-oriented; develop creative solutions to problems; and manage time with limited supervision.
The most successful candidates will be able to make educated decisions on various wine varietals and recall details about their customers to anticipate their needs.
Communication is critical to our success, and candidates must be enthusiastic about making phone calls to our customers. 75% of your time in this position will be on the phone, in the office. This is not a tasting room position, nor does this involve retail sales. This is B2B sales. Travel expectations are minimal with most business being conducted over the phone.

Responsibilities
Make educated decisions on different wine varietals and recall details about customers to anticipate their needs.
Have an in-depth knowledge of different wine varieties, their characteristics and the impact of AVA on those varieties.
Be willing to conduct product tastings onsite or at customer locations.
Be willing to transfer and accept accounts between team members.
Maintain a swift response rate and resolution to customer inquiries in accordance with company guidelines.
Effectively and concisely communicate with customers to follow-up on requests for wines.
Meet agreed upon goals and objectives. Meet monthly and yearly sales targets.
Arrive on time or early to appointments and events.
Prioritize goals and daily tasks. Must be a self-starter.
Keep meticulous records.
Build sales opportunities from cold calls.
Collaborate and cooperate with sales team members to close sales opportunities.
Coordinate logistics with production team, winemaking team and your customer.
Develop new sales opportunities with existing and new accounts.
Build customer and supplier relationships.
Follow all company policies, including on price quotations and availability of products.
Understand the wine industry and predict market trends to provide reliable advice to customers.
Perform will-call activities when required: packaging and delivering samples to customers or to FedEx for shipment.
Attend meetings as necessary.
Investigate customer concerns to ensure a positive experience for our customers.
Accept and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must like wine.
Must excel as a problem solver.
Must be able to describe the differences between varietals, e.g. Chardonnay vs. Sauvignon Blanc, etc.
Have a working knowledge of the méthode champenoise sparkling wine process.
Have a working knowledge of the Lodi wine region and other California AVAs.
Be highly motivated and able to work independently.
Have the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
Maintain high standards of communication, organization, professionalism, and have a sales-oriented attitude.

Be innovative, proactive, and highly adaptable and comfortable with change.
Demonstrate a commitment to doing things "the right way" with a high level of attention to detail and high personal standards of performance.
Have progressive sales experience, preferably in the wine industry.
Have an operable vehicle and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and insurance.
Must have an operable mobile phone.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite of products, GSuite, Adobe pdf.
Must have excellent phone skills to build account relationships and produce professional email communications.
Physical Requirements:
Moderate physical activity of carrying cases of wine in and out of a car and up and down stairs. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach, handle items, and work with the fingers. Clear vision, close and distant, and ability to adjust focus. Hearing adequate for telephone and office level conversation. The employee must be able to walk, climb stairs, bend, reach, and lift if necessary, up to 50 pounds. Individual will need to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Must be vaccinated against Covid-19. To successfully perform the essential job functions, an employee must meet the physical demands required for this position.
Position Details
Salaried position, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. -5 p.m. Some weekend or evening work may be required.
Local travel required as needed (San Joaquin, Alameda, Sacramento Counties)
Current, valid Driver’s License, insurable driving record, and proof of current automobile insurance required.
Educational and experience requirements include AA degree or higher.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite of products. Zoho CRM a plus
Must have legible handwriting.
Must type 60 words per minute minimum.
Salary: $60-80k, depending on experience.
