Youth and Family Services Department Director
Job Description
YWCA of Lowell, a multi-service agency serving the Greater Lowell community since 1891, seeks a dynamic, experienced leader to direct YWCA Youth and Family Services operations and programs. Applicants should have a passion for excellence, be well-versed in best practices, committed to DEI, and have solid experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and operational reporting/metrics.
Responsibilities:
- Strategically plan all Department programming.
- Assist with fundraising efforts including sponsorship, donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, grants and special events in collaboration with YWCA Development Director and Executive Director.
- Set program metrics in conjunction with program managers.
- Maintain processes for accurate and complete record keeping and internal financial controls.
- Review department income and expense statements monthly with the Executive Director and Finance Director to discern trends and identify possible areas of concern. Develop and implement a strategy to address any identified issues.
- Consistently search for new funding opportunities to support current and future programming. Assist in applying for federal, state, local, and private funding as appropriate.
- Foster and maintain a professional relationship with community partners, and all affiliate/partnering agencies.
- Recruit, hire, and train new department staff.
- Conduct weekly staff meetings.
- Collect and maintain data for program outcome measurements.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to grantors/donors.
- Oversee monthly invoicing, and approval of payment requests and reimbursements.
- Represent YWCA Lowell at community events, meetings, and other related activities.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written communication skills are a must.
- Financial management skills required.
- Federal, state, and local contract management experience required.
- Minimum 5 years experience managing diverse teams in a performance-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in all aspects of private and public grants management.
- Strong grant-writing skills, as evidenced by 3 sample grant proposals submitted as part of the application.
- Experience and commitment to working with diverse populations.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills required to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively manage many different responsibilities simultaneously required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products in Windows/network environment.
- Certificate in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED required. (Must earn certification within 30 days of hire.)
- Successful completion of CORI and SORI required

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Benefits: 13 paid holidays, 3 weeks paid vacation plus 3 paid personal days and 12 sick days annually. Employer paid retirement plan (10% of annual salary) after 2 years of employment. Health insurance available (75% paid by employer). Opportunity to work remotely on occasion.
