Salary : $27,632.00 annually
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision (District contribution $1,850.00). Life and Accidental Death Insurance.
Contract Term: 7.5 hours per day / 215 days per school year
Job Description: The Classified Staff Member facilitates a seamless transition from high school to higher education/training and or the world of work for individuals ages 16-21 with barriers to employment.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Practice punctuality for work
- Complete work in a timely and accurate manner
- Actively support student and staff activities
- Select appropriate channels for resolving concerns/problems through the adopted channels of district policy and labor agreements
- Know and adhere to district policies, rules, regulations, financial procedures, and approved practices
- Respect and obey the laws of Oregon
- Fulfill Requests and directives made by immediate administrator, superintendent or his/her designee
- Clearly communicate with student’s established parameters for behavior by following department, building, and district student discipline procedures.
- Demonstrate compassion and sensitivity for the value of all students and employees
- Demonstrate positive interaction with students, employees and public
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate, plan and implement the Youth Transition Program (YTP) School to Work Program for the Pendleton School District.
- Work in concert with the high school special education teachers to identify community work sites that give target participants the opportunity to gain meaningful employment skills in a structured work setting
- Identify, refer students to, and work closely as a team member with Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation (ORVS) and Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation (TVR) services
- Secure school documentation of disability and relevant anecdotal information to assist Youth Transition Program team in determining eligibility for OVR and TVR services
- Assist students in acquiring transportation to keep appointments
- Coordinate with OVRS and TVR counselors and student to develop any needed additional disability assessment or career exploration activities.
- Identify transition and career-skill readiness deficits that need to be in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Coordinate IEP and Individual Plan for Employment (IPE) transition activities.
- In collaboration with the OVRS & TVR counselor, provide a variety of transition and Pre-Employment Transition (Pre-ETS) services, such as development of work experiences, job shadows, and career exploration activities, provide job coaching; and develop paid employment consistent with the vocational goal of the student.
- Advocate for students to ensure that they have access to District training opportunities and resources needed for the student to achieve a successful school-to-career transition.
- Provide individualized and group Pre-ETS activities that are beyond the training or resources that are available to the general student body. Examples job clubs, School based businesses, community-based work experiences, work skill development, job coaching, community mobility training, selection or enrollment in post secondary training, arranging for long-term employment supports, etc.
- Take lead responsibility assisting the student to ensure fulfillment of the activities in the IPE.
- May take a lead with the student to develop the content of the IPE (including assisting the student in the identification of vocational goals).
- Provide follow-up services following the student's completion or termination of campus based secondary schooling activities, to ensure success in post-secondary training or employment.
- Collect and report data to OVRS and the YTP technical assistance provider (University of Oregon) to document student progress toward completion of activities related to IEP and Individualized Plan for Employment.
- Meet with OVRS counselors as requested to provide updated information on student progress and status for completion of secondary school, employment, or post-secondary education activities.
- Report to OVRS counselor any changes in status of student that impact successful completion of IEP or IPE.
- Attending training and meetings provided by the OVRS-designated technical assistance provider for YTPs statewide, which is the University of Oregon.
- Coordinate with outside agencies to meet the needs of the students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
- Ability to develop contacts in the business community to promote district’s school to work program
- Ability to develop curricular materials and participate in designing individual plans for participants
- Ability to communicate with parents and community members
- Ability to work with participants from diverse ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds
