The Accounting Associate works with the Finance team to ensure the integrity of our accounting practices and principles.
Job Title: Accounting Associate
Classification: Part-time/Annual, Hourly/Non-exempt
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday on Bainbridge Island Campus
Work schedule can be flexible up to 32 hours per week
Pay Range: $20.00 to $23.00 per hour
Benefit Package: Full benefit package provided for 32+ hour; health benefits 100% employee premium paid by IslandWood (Medical, dental, vision, life, LTD) 24 to31 Hour Employee Benefit Premium 50% employer paid 50 % employee paid (Medical, dental, vision), 401k, HSA, Flex, 3 weeks paid vacation, and 10 paid holiday annually.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensures all vendor invoices are properly recorded including coding, authorizations, and accurate entry into the accounting system in conformity with the budget categories and accordance with organizational expense approval policies.
- Monitors accounts payable aging, prepare weekly vendor check runs, and act as liaison with vendor representatives.
- Processes and reconciles IslandWood credit cards; gathers and maintain supporting documentation, codes and imports data.
- Prepares regular and month-end journal entries, general ledger reports and reconciliations.
- Reconciles Gift Shop inventory and petty cash funds.
- Assists in other general administrative duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- Assists the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance with accounting projects.
- Supports IslandWood’s strategic plan to expand our mission and impact, and commitment to mission, vision, values and goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Accounting or 1-2 years assisting in accounting functions
- Strong computer skills, including accounting software, databases, and MS Office.
- Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; effective time-management, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with diverse staff, clients and vendors.
- Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
