Education and Work Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma or Above
  • Work/Professional Experience: Must be experienced in dealing with people and have organizational skills as well as able to follow directions and must be self-motivated.

Position Overview: To assist the Corps Officer with everyday clerical duties that are, but not limited to: Finances, Mailings, Donors, Human Resources, Coordinate Trainings, and all other duties assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have knowledge with basic Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Publisher, and PPT). Must possess and maintain a valid Oregon Driver's License, successfully pass The Salvation Army's driving test, Criminal background check and OMV Check.

  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to meet the daily expectations of the job assignment
  • A working knowledge of client services and community resources

Responsibility: Moderate impact on programs and costs. Work is performed under general supervision with advice and assistance available. Matters dealt with are usually controlled by established procedures.

Organizational Skills: Must be responsive, organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently, and take projects from beginning through completion.

  • Must adhere to all Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Must maintain the integrity of confidential communications or activities.
  • Must maintain professional, courteous, and cooperative manner with all THQ, DHQ, and "Field" Personnel and outside contacts and demonstrate respect and a positive attitude toward them at all times during the workday.
  • Must be a team player, take initiative and be flexible in assisting others and to the best of the employee's ability, ensure accurate and timely work objectives.
  • Must demonstrate dependability by arriving and leaving work on time, by taking the allotted time for lunch and breaks and by limiting personal business and socializing to break periods.

Essential Functions:

  • To help the Corps Officer maintain the finances of the Corps through processing deposits, accounts payable, Donors (CDS), budgeting, budget work.
  • Prepare monthly and seasonal statistic reports as needed.
  • To prepare and send out Donor (CDS) Thank you Letters to the donor each week.
  • To assist the officer with Human Resource information, including, but not limited to Volunteer applications, maintaining driving records, and other online certifications.
  • Assist Safety Coordinator with OSHA guidelines keeping OSHA folder and information up to date.
  • Maintain and keep up to date any FEMA, USDA, United Way, or other agencies in grant monies and/or annual inspections for the Corps.
  • Order supplies for the Corps.
  • Attend Bi-monthly staff meetings, community meetings, seminars or training relating to performance of position.
  • Recruit, train, coordinate and supervise volunteers.
  • Drive Salvation Army vehicle when needed.
  • Assist Corps Officers in budget and report preparation.
  • Assist with Seasonal activities as needed.
  • Develop, complete, and receive grants from donor groups.
  • To assist fundraisers and food drives.
  • To promote The Salvation Army programming of the Corps.
  • Other duties as as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Transportation of other staff, volunteers, & program participants to Corps/Church, community, fundraising, & volunteer programs and activities.
  • Procurement, sorting and organization of donated items.
  • Assist in procurement of offsite donations.
  • Assist with Seasonal & Special Activities when needed which may result in an increase of hours and days (temporarily).

The above duties listed may not be inclusive of all duties that the employee may be required to perform during his/her employment experience with The Salvation Army of Bend.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Both inside and outside work activities should be expected, appropriate clothing and protection should be worn as needed. The employee must also adhere to the policies set forth in The Salvation Army Employee Handbook (which will be given at time of employment). Respect and display a polite behavior with all persons that come through the facility.
