Administrative Bookkeeper - Woof

We are scaling rapidly and as such we are seeking an experienced Administrative
Bookkeeper to help enable growth. Woof’s business spans both online marketing and in-person production, and as such we are looking for a driven and adaptable team member who can keep everyday operations running smoothly.

This is a “many hats” kind of role, with responsibilities that include managing all accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, maintaining front-of-house operations, and collaborating with the executive team to identify opportunities for further improvement across the business.

This will be an in-the-trenches position alongside our core team so a strong work-ethic and the ability to learn on the fly is a must!

You will be directly responsible for:
● Performing payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner, and submitting payroll taxes.
● Conducting reconciliation of all accounts on an as needed basis.
● Maintaining and balancing the general ledger.
● Performing all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments.
● Performing account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition.
● Preparing financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data.
● Interpreting and applying accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
● Applying for and processing sales tax in states with Nexus.
● Managing front-of-house duties (welcoming partners, scheduling key meetings, purchasing for facility amenities, etc.)
● Assisting in planning travel arrangements and running company errands as needed.
● Organizing team meetings and events.
● Identifying opportunities for improvement across our operations.
● Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
● 3-5 years relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping
● Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
● Strong verbal and written communication skills
● Proficient skills in Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel
● Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
● High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
● Experience with ecommerce business
● A love and respect for people - no matter their title.
● Excellent organizational skills.
● Problem solving skills & enthusiasm for learning on the fly.
● Effective communication skills, written and verbal.
● An excellent work ethic & willingness to roll up your sleeves when it’s needed.

Applicants should have a strong entrepreneurial attitude and experience working in teams.
Small business experience is ideal though not required. This is a startup, so there will be a lot to do, but we’re at an exciting inflection point. This is the perfect role for someone wanting to get in at the ground-floor of the next great American pet brand.
