The Ferguson Parks and Recreation Department is seeking multiple Adult Volleyball Referee’s. This is a contracted position with varied evening hours starting as early as 5:30pm. The contract will run for a year allowing to host indoor and outdoor volleyball. Prior referee and volleyball experience are preferred, but not required. This position reports to the Recreation Athletics Supervisor.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Officiate Adult Volleyball games implementing the standard rules and regulations with the City of Ferguson volleyball leagues.
Maintain control of the game while making the proper judgement calls associated with a volleyball game.
Treat players in a professional and polite manner and handle any altercations between players in accordance with the Fergusons established rules.
Contact the proper city staff regarding maintenance or league issues to ensure a safe and proper working courts and to present a positive playing environment.
Keeps score of the game.
Setup/Tear down equipment and inspect equipment used.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience as a volleyball referee or volleyball experience is preferred but not required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members and patrons.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Subject to working a varied schedule including evenings.
Demonstrate understanding of the rules and regulations of adult volleyball league.
Ability to resolve conflict in a professional, polite, equitable manner.
A demonstrated history of excellent work attendance.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is done in an outdoor setting. May be exposed to varied weather conditions and temperatures.
