Assists in the development, management, production, and casting of all shows and events of the Live Entertainment department.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the planning, organizing, installation, and production of shows and events.
  • Recruits, hires, and trains seasonal associates and leadership to maintain optimal staffing levels throughout the operating season while operating within budget.
  • Works with Corporate Entertainment team and Valleyfair management to research and plan new show product for Valleyfair. This includes ideation and concept generation, production planning, casting, and management of the day-to-day performances and staff.
  • Monitors live show performances throughout the operating season to ensure the presentations meet Cedar Fair standards. Provides timely feedback to associates and management to maintain optimal performance quality.
  • Acts as a liaison with the Entertainment department and other sub-contracted production staff members to ensure communication for show production. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as corporate management, park management, associates, guests, vendors, contractors, artists’ agents, promoters, news media, promotional partners, and the general public.
  • Supervises duties of seasonal staff, including instructing, assigning, planning and reviewing work for accuracy and completeness, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, selecting new employees, and training, acting on employee problems, recommending and approving employee promotions, transfers, discipline and discharge.
  • Prepares labor and expense operating budgets for the performers portion of the Entertainment department. Monitors expenses on an ongoing basis and takes appropriate corrective action if necessary.
  • Leads the recruitment and casting duties required to produce all shows and events. Develops rehearsal schedules and leads rehearsals in collaboration with directors, choreographers, and technical associates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Training in voice, dance, and/or acting. Previous experience in casting productions preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in modern office practices and technology; proficient in the use of Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct a managerial staff. Must be able to apply supervisory and managerial concepts and principles.
  • Strong communication skills required to interact with park management, subordinates, guests, vendors, etc. to maintain effective relationships.
  • Ability to make sound, educated decisions. Reacts calmly and quickly in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Adheres to Cedar Fair’s Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
