Assistant Swim Coach

Rays Swim Team ? Southington Community YMCA

Working with 11-14 year old group

Part Time ? Monday/Tuesday/Thursday Evenings & Weekends

Pay: Starts at $16.38+ based on experience

Duties

� Arrive at practices and meets with enough time to implement a highly organized practice or meet warm-up
� Help organize the practice curriculum and practice schedules
� Assist in preparing team entries
� Maintain daily practice and meet attendance forms
� Maintain a up to date roster and attendance log
� Maintain direct communication with swimmers and parents of specific practice group
� Attend clinics and workshops as warranted
� Ensure that the pool area is clean after meets and practices
� Ensure that the equipment and supplies used during a practice are returned to the proper location

Requirements

� Candidate must be at least 18 years of age

� Advanced knowledge in practical, theoretical and psychological concepts of competitive swimming

� A understanding of age and sex characteristics of child and adolescent development

� Be able to work independently and professionally

� Be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing ideas to swim team members and parents

� Be able to exercise proper judgment when dealing with swim team members and parents

� Maintain certifications required by the YMCA of the USA/ Competitive Swim and USA Swimming Inc.

� CPR for professional Rescuer

� Standard First Aid

� Lifeguard Training

� ASCA certified

� Must be open and receptive to constructive criticism for the benefit of the program or staff growth and development

� Can think in the abstract, solve problems, make decisions, instruct, evaluate, supervise children and other staff and remember information.
