CenterPoint Energy is looking for an Associate Analyst GIS Programmer to join our Continuous Improvement Team, located in Houston, TX or Evansville, IN.
You will have the ability to: works under direct guidance to develop the new GIS solutions and processes and enhance the existing solutions and processes to meet the electric and gas utility business requirements, and assist troubleshooting production issues, and verifying the fixes.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Understand and analyze the business requirements from product owners and business users.
- Develop and support software including applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements to fulfill business requirements and in accord to CNP development and architectural standards.
- Collaborate with other developers and specialists in developing and maintaining GIS solutions and software in support of CNP Electric and Gas operations.
- Work with GIS support staff, system administrators and/or external vendors to resolve production issues.
- Write clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code, and produce clear and concise documentation.
- Work under senior developers to conduct proof-of-concept research on modern technologies for future endeavors.
- Perform Emergency Operating Plan (EOP) assignments that may require extended days and include challenging field conditions to assist utility restoration efforts.
Your background includes:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Applications or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Basic programming on Windows and web applications
- Custom applications development, preferably with the following technology stacks:
- ESRI software suite, including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, ArcObjects, ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Online
- Windows Application Development on .Net Framework with MVC, Web API, WCF, and Entity Framework
- Web development using JavaScript/HTML5/CSS, Dojo. Angular and Typescript is a big plus
- Scripting with Python, ArcPy and Windows commands or PowerShell
A bonus to have:
- Ability to develop web, mobile and desktop business-oriented GIS applications on the platforms of Microsoft NET Framework, Esri ArcGIS and Schneider Arc FM.
- Ability to develop efficient data ETL processes and integrate system interfaces between GIS and other business systems such as SAP.
- Knowledge of custom development beyond Esri’s Web App Builder and/or Web Experience Builder.
- Ability to effectively execute multiple tasks in a challenging environment.
- Able to work in both independently and collaborative environment.
- Effective communication and technical writing skills.
- Resourceful and ‘can-do’ attitude. Highly initiative-taking and organized.
- Knowledge and experience in utility network is a plus.
