CenterPoint Energy is looking for an Associate Electric Engineer Technologist/ Electric Engineer Technologist II/ Electric Engineer Technologist III/ Electric Engineer Technologist IV to join our Substation Relay & SCADA Team, located in Houston, TX.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Develop, review, and analyze basic one lines, relay and metering one lines, AC & DC schematics, SCADA diagrams, interconnection diagrams, and schematics as necessary to facilitate the design and construction of substation facilities.
  • Communicate with contract engineering firms regarding design compliance to CenterPoint Energy’s standards and philosophy.
  • Prepare and review work orders and project bill of material documentation to ensure proper material is ordered in a timely manner.
  • Perform project management functions associated with contact engineering resources.
  • Support the construction, operation, and maintenance of CNP substation infrastructure through communication with field personnel and contractors.
  • Evaluate material requirements for work orders, coordinate material purchases with Purchasing & Logistics and vendors, and develop and maintain project material schedules.
  • Manage multiple projects involving customers, contractors, and internal departments.
  • Interface with inspectors, engineers, construction personnel, warehousing personnel, purchasing agents, vendors and management regarding materials and standards development, procurement, and packaging issues.

Your background includes:

Education:
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology from accredited college or university.

Engineer Technologist I
Entry Level- Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology


Engineering Technologist II
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology and a minimum of two years electric utility or power engineering experience that includes performing engineering calculations and design.


Engineering Technologist III
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology and a minimum of 5 years of electric utility or power engineering experience that includes performing engineering calculations and design.


Engineering Technologist IV
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology and a minimum of 8 years of electric utility or power engineering experience that includes performing engineering calculations and design.
