Purpose of the Job:
This role is responsible for effectively implementing Lilly’s Global Privacy Program and enabling compliance with privacy laws and requirements as part of a centralized team tasked with conducting relevant Privacy review-related owned by the Global Privacy Office to ensure appropriate adherence to relevant policies, procedures and program elements. The scope of the role is focused on enabling the company’s appropriate use of personal information by applying privacy expertise together with an understanding of the organization, processes, policies, procedures, strategic priorities and objectives of the business, as well as of Lilly’s Privacy Program processes in order to develop privacy solutions and provide privacy guidance consistent with laws and policies. The role reports to the Consultant, Ethics and Compliance - Global Privacy. This role will help deliver on the overall Ethics and Compliance (E&C) mission to drive the integration of high performance with high integrity across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Conduct and provide Privacy consultation as applicable via centralized Global Privacy Office (GPO) processes, that include but are not limited to:
  • Privacy Impact Assessments
  • Third Party Inventory Assessments (TPIs)
  • Data Inventory Management Assessment (DIM)
  • Analyze and provide guidance on relevant potential unauthorized disclosures of PI.
  • Conduct GPO monitoring to identify and mitigate risks in the rapidly evolving Privacy environment.
In addition to the above:
  • Support Global Privacy Advocate Program.
  • Partner with Global Privacy Office (GPO) and E&C teammates to represent privacy in relevant project forums relating to initiatives and programs being implemented in the businesses; providing privacy guidance via applicable processes and ensuring decisions taken reflect this guidance.
  • Partner with E&C/Privacy Operations on the timely development of relevant job aids, decision trees, training and other tools to proactively and efficiently support business needs specifically based on an understanding of the objectives of the PIA, TPI and SPI processes.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with E&C teammates to assist in development and implementation of local programs and implementation of the global privacy program across all business areas.
  • Act as privacy SME to relevant E&C teammates.
  • Act as a privacy SME in relevant business projects.
  • Prepare and develop privacy metrics and dashboards.
Basic Requirements:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • No serious compliance violations within the last two years.
Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Previous Privacy experience.
  • Deep knowledge of recent Privacy laws (e.g., EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, including a strong reputation for integrity, sound judgment and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong learning agility.
  • General IT knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of elements of compliance programs and internal controls.
  • Ability to form and maintain excellent internal and external cross-functional and global working relationships and ability to network and leverage those relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to effectively resolve conflict and work towards solutions of mutual benefit.
  • High level of professional maturity and sensitivity to confidentiality.
  • Ability to translate ambiguity and complexity into a meaningful, actionable framework.
  • Strong team player within the GPO, E&C teammates and business partners.
  • Demonstrated courage and willingness to “speak up.”
Travel
  • Some international travel. Less than 5%.
