Position Summary and Overview

The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to join the health team. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for the health and well-being of student athletes through the care and prevention of athletic injuries. This is a part time, 10 month position beginning in August 2022. Hours will generally be M-F from 2:00PM-6:00PM. Hours may vary per game and practice schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
• Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Deliver on-site athletic training services including in-person coverage for scheduled team practices and home competitions as necessary
• Evaluate injuries and develops treatment and exercise plans within the NYS scope of practice
• Ensure compliance with NYS mandated concussion protocol
• Provide protective taping, bracing, preliminary evaluation and referral services to appropriate medical professionals
• Perform school professional and coach training in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Concussion Training
• Maintain accurate medical records and accident reports
• Understanding and adherence to COVID protocols

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have…

• Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training preferred
• Current Athletic Trainer certification from NYS
• Current and good standing BOC certification
• Instructor of First Aid and CPR (Certified Red Cross Instructor) to certify coaches and school professionals
• Must have strong interpersonal communications and human relation skills.
• Strong communication skills, ability to collaborate with co-workers, and exercise flexibility
