Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This position is located in Rockville, MD
Under general supervision, provides complex level support, serves as a lead worker performing production control activities such as supporting all USG video conferencing infrastructure. Provide maintenance and technical support to campus-wide audio visual (AV) systems and technologies. Work schedule Tuesdays – Fridays 1:30PM to 10:00 PM and Saturdays 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
Three years with the types of hardware and software to be supported, two years of which included user support, user training, and/or programming.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Required Knowledge, skills, and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable computer hardware or software.
  • Skill in operating supported computers and peripherals; in configuring computer hardware and software; to analytically design program logic or solve technical problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to work effectively with clients; and providing guidance and instruction to others.

Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in information technology; AV-related professional certifications, such as CTS.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in the A/V & video conference industry – particularly in an in-house environment such as universities, hotels, conference centers.
  • Knowledge of and skilled in setting up and operating various audio visual control systems, projection systems, video playback equipment, digital video cameras, and various audio systems.
  • Working knowledge of Polycom and other video conferencing technologies.
  • Working knowledge and experience in repairing various AV systems.
  • Troubleshooting skills, technical understanding and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze problems and select corrective action.
  • Skills in communication, verbally and in writing.
