Duties:

1-40Apply a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve effectiveness of transaction processes including but not limited to: cash management general ledger maintenance entertainment and gifts travel and mileage reimbursements tax compliance- 1099 reporting journal voucher and budget revisions Accounts Payable Grants Billing Financial record retention Prepare and execute scheduled audits including planning, preparation, execution, reporting and follow-up in accordance with accepted institutional standards. Use Banner and create/run queries in data management programs like Toad or Concur intelligence. Analyze and compile results. Conduct cash fund and petty cash counts with the Cash Management team.Essential
20Coordinate and conduct special audits, investigations, and/or ad-hoc projects. Conduct spot audits when requested Advise fiscal and administrative employees and leadership in audit and compliance matters.Essential
20Document all information pertaining to audit results including findings, opportunities, and observations. Follow up with management on remedial action. Prepare Audit and Executive Summary reports for monthly quarterly, semi-annual and annual audits. Promote value in audit processes and provide recommendations to improve or streamline internal controls procedures. Develop recommendations for process improvement and participate in work groups/process improvement teams to assist in the development of new processesEssential
20JOURNAL VOUCHER REVIEW Audit JV's. Ensure the department is in compliance with Statewide Accounting procedures and federal policies. Analyze and resolve any incorrect charges being made to grants or Fund 1 account. Distribute JV's for further verification when required by university, state, and federal guidelines. Configure electronic JV's to deploy thru the Banner system.Essential
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Detailed knowledge of federal, state, and university regulatory guidelines for a wide variety of

  • fiscal processes and transactions.
  • Ability to understand and apply complex regulations.

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with university departments.

  • Preferred Experience:
    2 years progressively responsible professional fiscal experience in accounting, grant management, statistics, institutional research.

    Required Education or Training:

    Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 6 months professional fiscal experience, OR, an equivalent combination of training and experience.



    Salary Information:

    This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
