Basic Grade Dietitian – Panel

Fixed Term & Permanent (Part-time & Full-time)

(Under the Governance of Mercy University Hospital Cork CLG.)

The post holder will be an integrated Dietitian team member who will deliver a high-quality patient-centred nutrition service to complex inpatients over a range of specialist areas, including oncology, critical care, medical, surgical, paediatrics and care of the elderly. A dietetic service is also provided to St. Michael’s Mental Health Unit & an outpatient service for Upper GI cancer patients.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the following:

Assessing the nutritional status of patients in assigned areas that have been referred to the MUH Clinical Nutrition & Dietetic Dept.

Developing, implementing & monitoring nutrition care plans according to individual patient needs using evidence-based practice.

Communicating effectively with patients and carers to ensure an appropriate quality service to patients.

Participating in the multidisciplinary approach to patient care by regularly liaising with relevant personnel (medical, nursing, clinical & non-clinical).

Communicating & co-ordinating with community & other acute hospital nutrition & dietetic services in relation to their patients, when necessary.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must:

Be registered or eligible for registration as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.

Have the requisite knowledge & ability (including a high standard of suitability & professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

Candidates who are graduating in 2023 are eligible to apply.
