Behavioral Specialist
Job description
Overall Purpose
To provide leadership, support, and technical assistance to schools related to development and implementation of behavior interventions for students.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with school leadership to promote positive school climate
- Assist schools with implementation of PBIS (Tier 1 behavior support)
- Collaborate with appropriate staff to complete Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) as needed
- Collaborate with appropriate staff to develop, assist with implementation of, and monitor effectiveness of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
- Collect, summarize, and analyze school and individual student data and use resulting analysis to effectively plan action steps
- Respond to student crises to assist with intervention and/or de-escalation
- Model behavior modification techniques, strategies, and/or interventions in classrooms as a method of assisting teachers in becoming more competent with managing student behaviors
- Participate in IEP meetings, MTSS meetings, parent conferences and other meetings related to students with behavioral concerns
- Remain abreast of and familiar with current research, literature, trends, and best practices related to social emotional learning, PBIS, and/or student discipline
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
Degree in Education, Special Education, School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in an appropriate field (or ability to obtain certification).
Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience teaching or working with children with behavioral concerns.
Knowledge of principles of applied behavior analysis; BCBA preferred.
Physical Requirements
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.
Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.
Education/Training
Maintains all licenses and certifications.

Pay: $44,720.00 - $104,970.00 per year
