Purpose of the Role
The Benefits Manager will assume primary leadership for the planning, implementation and administration of employee benefit offerings such as health, disability and life insurance, employee assistance plans, COBRA and other ancillary benefits offerings for approximately 2600 PrimeSource Brands employees.
Responsibilities
- Coordination with Human Resources Director, senior leadership, brokers and other vendor partners to design and implement employee benefit and wellness strategies, including the integration of benefit programs following mergers and acquisitions.
- Selection and management of benefit vendors, including benefits broker and wellness vendors.
- Design, evaluation and modification of benefits policies to ensure that programs are current, competitive and in compliance with legal requirements.
- Ensure fulfillment of all reporting requirements of all relevant government rules and regulations, including ACA, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and 5500 filings for all PrimeSource Brands entities.
- Preparation, distribution and promotion benefit offering information to all PrimeSource Brand entity employees.
- Coordination with primary benefits broker and internal finance department to develop benefit cost analysis and projections to inform budgeting and benefits strategy.
- Leadership of annual review and modification of employee benefit programs.
- Direct handling employees' benefits related questions when necessary.
- Oversight and management of employee leave of absences and coordination with the applicable insurance carrier, employee, human resources partner, managers and payroll department.
- Remaining abreast of and analysis of government regulations, benefit program trends, and prevailing practices among similar sized organizations.
- Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve existing metrics including changes to benefits, leave, and compensation offerings.
- Management, oversight and promotion of employee health fairs and other wellness-related events.
- Coordination of the transfer of benefits data to external vendors, plan providers, auditors, and consultants.
- Upon request, guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.
- Active participation in People Department leadership team.
- Endeavors to model and lead according to the PrimeSource Brands culture “Blue Print”.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities

- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving employment, HR, and benefits administration
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS, payroll, and similar human resource management software and practices
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field
- 3-7 years of experience in benefits or total rewards
- Master’s degree and/or compensation experience a plus
- Human Resources consulting a plus
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Ability to travel periodically

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
