Job Summary
Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in Michigan. Michigan Medicine is home to a Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center. This position will work closely with the remarkable clinical faculty and staff helping ensure patients receive the highest quality stroke care available and continuously improve upon that care. The purpose of this role is to support the data flow, reporting, analytic, and BI dashboard needs of the Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC). The expectation is that the person in the role can expertly produce all internal and external performance reports to support the external regulatory requirements for stroke center certification and internally identified objectives as determined by hospital and/or program leadership. They will be able to design, implement, and maintain near-real time and retrospective analytics and dashboards for staff to utilize in increasing performance of our quality metrics. Create and maintain automated reporting using standard processes in support of quality metrics as well as ad hoc metrics identified to address specific areas of deficiency. Maintain all datasets for the CSC program - designing and implementing new elements, maintaining existing ones, and providing timely break/fix services and remediation prior to or after Epic upgrades.
They will also be available onsite in Ann Arbor, MI during any Joint Commission review of the CSC to provide in-person support during the Joint Commission review and preparation immediately prior to the review.

Responsibilities*
Analysis: Develop a comprehensive, cross-functional understanding of business processes, production systems, enterprise-wide data warehouses/sources, and Departmental datasets. Conduct business analyses and functional design activities for capturing, loading, storing, and extracting data across the organization. Participate in strategic assessments to identify current/emerging business issues/problems and contribute to defining high impact business intelligence solutions with a focus on the quantitative methods, modeling and analytical techniques.
Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with customers to understand and define their information requirements and to create deliverables to meet those requirements. Partner with technical teams to meet those needs.
Development: Design, model, and build data structures, and data mapping routines to support the data and reporting requirements for all areas of the organization. Develop reports and definitions, graphs, dashboards and portal interfaces appropriate for audience.
Communication:
Participate in cross-functional teams for increasing the impact/awareness of BI projects, tools, and assist in the presentation/demonstrations of tools and BI solutions.
Required Qualifications*
BA or BS in quantitative field 3 to 5 years of experience
Desired Qualifications*
Strong background in healthcare with an emphasis on clinical care. Specific familiarity with the MiChart installation of Epic An understanding of database and data warehouse concepts and healthcare data. Willingness and a strong aptitude for learning new technologies and assuming responsibilities with efficiency. Demonstrated ability in using Python or SQL to parse historical and current state data Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI or SAS. Proficient use of MS Office Products- Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Training in Lean processes for waste reduction and process improvement Ability to provide examples of technical learning skills in action as evidenced by certification, successfully completed coursework, etc. in computer language programing. Ability to work effectively on a team. Excellent organizational skills in setting priorities and balancing multiple priorities and demonstrated follow through bringing tasks to closure with acceptable outcomes. Demonstrated ability to work with a tremendous amount of ambiguity - taking loosely defined data objectives and creating specific logic criteria to design and implement sustainable IT solutions. Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills to understand root cause issues and how best to display information that is useful in creating opportunities for clinical improvement.
Work Locations
This position is being offered as a hybrid position. There will be times that it will be appropriate for you to work from home. There will be other times that you will be required to work onsite, such as during a Joint Commission review of the Comprehensive Stroke Center. This position will be greater than 90% remote work. May require working during non-business hours and on weekends.
