This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a BIM Coordinator for our New York, New York office. Be involved in projects with our Building Systems Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

The BIM Coordinator will report to the local/regional BIM Manager and be responsible for supporting Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Building Technology design teams in producing their design documents using BIM authoring software, in particular Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.

Your Impact

  • Work closely with design teams to create construction document packages.
  • Manipulate/translate various digital file formats to create coordinated drawings/models.
  • Assist design teams with model/data transfer with other project stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Project Manager to review and meet project BIM goals.
  • Assist in development and enforcement of WSP US BIM standards.
  • Identify spatial conflicts of MEP, Structural, and Architectural design models.
  • Initiate project setup, oversee the model health during the length of projects, troubleshooting graphic issues, and manage project production sheets and views.
  • Communicate BIM technical information in a clear way
  • Understand industry standard BIM production environments within the office, and on client model sites.
  • Assure plans adhere to city code, state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineer.
  • Ensure the specification of dimensions, materials, and procedures for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the engineer-in-charge and other technical professionals on assigned project phases, segments, checks, and tasks.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exhibit basic knowledge of current drafting and design support practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 5+ years related experience in a professional services environment, preferably in an A/E firm.
  • Highly familiar with drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
  • Highly familiar with relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Professional working experience with Revit and AutoCAD, light (MEP) design experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of CAD / BIM customization.
  • Possess Revit and CAD modeling/drafting skills, and an eye for drawing aesthetics
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Detail oriented, be able to work independently, with a focus on Quality and timely delivery
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Successful candidate must have or be able to obtain a Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree from AEC related discipline or Drafting and Design program is preferred
  • Experience with Navisworks a plus.
  • Autodesk Certification a plus

Expected Salary: $51,000 - $92,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location.
