GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department seeks to hire a Biologist Technician - Fisheries in Green River, WY. This seasonal position will assist the Green River fisheries management crew with a creel survey being conducted on Flaming Gorge Reservoir (FGR) as well as assist with Lake Trout netting through August 2023.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
- Duties will be variable but include collecting creel data from anglers at check stations, using gill nets to capture lake trout from FGR, data entry, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work well with the public and represent the WGFD in a professional manner.
- Biologist technicians may assist with watercraft inspection and decontamination in cooperation with the state's aquatic invasive species program.
- The ability to drive 4x4 vehicles, pull trailers, and operate motorboats will be required for these positions.
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference will be given to those pursuing a career or degree in fisheries. This may include preference towards those with a high school degree plus experience in fish and wildlife resource management, research, or college course work towards a degree in fishery or wildlife management, ichthyology, hydrology, watershed science, or other closely related fields.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Technicians must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision and also be able to work well with others on a small crew.- These are field positions that require physical labor, such as hiking, wading, and carrying backpacks.
- Inclement weather may occur while conducting fieldwork.
NOTES:
- FLSA: Non-exempt
- Successful applicants for employment must pass a background check before appointment.
- This is a temporary position through August 2023.
- Lodging, waders, rain gear, uniform, and other necessary field equipment and expenses will be provided when in the field. Off-duty, housing is not provided.
