Board Certified Behavior Analyst/Registered Behavior Technician

The Floral Park-Bellerose Elementary School District is hiring one (1) Board Certified Behavior Analyst and/or one (1) Registered Behavior Technician to serve students in our special education classes on developing ABA goals, to provide behavior consultation to teachers and support parents through parent training meetings. This BCBA will provide leadership and direction working to design, coordinate and evaluate comprehensive behavior intervention plans that will result in an increase of students’ academic performance. The RBT will work under the direction and supervision of the BCBA.

General Responsibilities for both the BCBA and/or the RBT:

• Assist staff in: defining and measuring behavior; understanding principles of reinforcement; teaching new behavior; implementing strategies for weakening behavior; and identifying antecedents
• Facilitate team meetings that: design Behavior interventions Plans; address classroom organization, effective instruction, and social skills instruction
• Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in their classrooms.
• Engage parents in the “student behavior intervention plan” process and empower parents by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development of their child.
• Participate in building level MTSS team and/or grade level meetings, as appropriate
• Review daily data collection and record of student progress
• Align curriculum with the NY State Learning Standards and applied in accordance with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Train staff in data collection based on BIPs and to utilize the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to teach all new behaviors and shape existing behaviors
• Provide training and feedback to teachers and assistants/aide on behavior analytic strategies and tactics
• Provide and/or ensure regular communication with parents
• Monitor and graph performance/productivity
• Expert knowledge of function-based intervention planning for developing behavior change strategies that focuses on reducing problem behavior and increasing more appropriate behavior
• Expert knowledge of techniques needed to successfully complete effective Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
• Demonstrate ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving behavior

Qualifications and Selection Criteria:

• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Registered Behavior Therapist (RBT)
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills are essential

Work Schedule: Teacher calendar - 10 months

Starting Salary: $68,634.00

The Floral Park-Bellerose Elementary School District is located in Western Nassau County. We are a Pre-K through Grade 6 district with two schools and approximately 1600 students.
