Summary:
Responsible for maintaining a complete and systemic set of records of all financial transactions of the facility. Post details of charges, payments, credits, and debits to individual resident accounts for services provided by the facility. Keeps the Administrator informed of all events taking place in the business office (account status’, census changes, outside agency requests, etc.). Prepares reports on a monthly basis for administration to review on the status of the facility.
Essential Duties:
Accuracy and correctness of Medicare, Medicaid and resident accounts.
Processes the payment of accounts payable.
Processes payroll and handles all tax procedures.
Resident account ledger posting of charges and receipts and resident trust.
Preparation of monthly resident statements, third party billing statements, and financial statements.
Answers incoming telephone calls and directs to appropriate person(s). Receives and distributes incoming mail and forwards to appropriate person(s).
Maintain confidentiality when dealing with residents, families and representatives.
Utilize effective problem solving skills as appropriate and convey enthusiasm and sincerity and promote the facility in a positive manner to all.
Must be flexible to change and have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Participate in monthly QAPI, Safety Committee, All Staff In-Services, and Manager meetings. Complete all required forms/ checklists for these programs.
Attend daily manager meetings with Administrator and other educational seminars and/or conventions as scheduled.
Comply with all applicable laws, state and federal regulations, labor laws, Medicare and Medicaid guidelines, accounting principles.
Assist in ordering administration supplies and maintaining an inventory within specific budget.
Provides timely resolution of resident/ family concerns in order to maintain a positive public relation within the community.
Maintain petty cash boxes and assists with bank deposits as directed.
Maintain resident and employee files to assure accuracy and appropriate documentation of services performed.
Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Must be in good mental and physical condition.
Sit, hand dexterity, reach with hands/arms, communicate verbally and in writing, stand, walk, lift supplies up to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch.
Ability to read, write, and interpret documents.
Ability to calculate amounts based on general mathematics.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; some college/ vocational training in business preferred.
1-2 years of business office experience in long term care preferred.
Excellent typing, computer and work processing skills.
Organized and detail oriented and work within deadlines.
Ability to interact with the public, personnel, residents, families and visitors.
Possess leadership ability and willingness to cooperate with others.
