The Virginia Beach Sports Center sets the stage for athletes to test their will at the highest level.

This state-of-the-art facility has hosted a diverse roster of sporting events and tournaments since it opened in November 2020. The venue is located across the street from the Virginia Beach Convention Center and just steps away from local shops, restaurants and attractions, including the beautiful boardwalk and beaches of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

The Virginia Beach Sports Center (VBSC) boasts 285,000 square feet of custom-configurable space, including 9 Field Hockey courts, 12 basketball courts, 24 volleyball courts, a 200 meter, hydraulically banked track, 64 wrestling mats, and seating for 5,000 spectators. Additionally, VBSC provides 5 meeting rooms and a 400-seat kitchen/concessions area.

The Virginia Beach Sports Center is managed by Eastern Sports Management (ESM) based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. ESM’s management portfolio consists of venues in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

The Virginia Beach Sports Center is currently accepting applications for Camp Counselor. Camp Counselors provide direct supervision of a group of children during day camp. Our staff provide quality experiences and environment for the children and parents. A qualified individual is energetic, creative, professional, patient, and exhibits a desire for working with kids.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create a fun and safe environment for all kids

  Plan, lead, and take part in various indoor and outdoor activities
• 
  
  Plan and implement developmentally appropriate weekly and daily activities
• 
  
  Follow program requirements and standards for safety and cleanliness
• 
  
  Create and maintain relationships with children and parents
• 
  
  Communicate effectively with other staff, supervisors, and parents
• 
  
  Manage conflict and issues with campers across a multitude of developmental stages
• 
  

  Other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel

• Ability to engage children between 6 years - 12 years of age for extended periods of time
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check prior to hiring
• Must have proven organization skill
• Ability to provide high energy, high enthusiasm, and a positive personality each and every day
• High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college in an educational field preferred
• Previous experience supervising or working with groups of children; experience in a licensed childcare center preferred
• Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred), or the ability to become certified (required)
• Must have a passion for working with kids & giving them the best experience possible
• Must be available to work weekdays between during camp hours (TBD)

Environmental Setting

The Camp Counselor will normally work in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. Frequent exposure to outside ambient conditions is required.
