POSITION: Career Athletic Advisor

HOURS/STATUS: Part Time - 29 weekly hours

REPORTS TO: Wisconsin Director of Career Services

START DATE: April 2023

LOCATION: Wisconsin Market Campuses

Position Summary:

This position ensures that the career needs of the student and the employment outcomes of the College are achieved. This position will also assist with athletic advising & career planning for athletes in various programs.

Career Services Essential Job Functions and Duties:

• Provide counseling and instruction in interviewing, resume preparation, job application, pre-interview preparation, and job acceptance negotiation that matches the applicant’s objectives.

Athletic Advisor Essential Job Functions and Duties:

• Monitors academic progress of student-athletes which includes daily attendance, classroom behavior, and grades.
• Meet with prospective student-athletes and their parent, as needed during the admissions process.
• Coordinate’s preparation of a learning plan suitable to each student athlete's intended major.
• Provides academic support services to student-athletes, including assistance with career planning, admissions, registration, and tutoring coordination.
• Maintains communications with faculty, coaches, and other athletic staff relating to the academic progress of student-athletes. Develops academic improvement strategies for students, working with tutoring staff.
• Manually and electronically monitor student-athletes' progress toward a degree and academic eligibility as outlined by the college and NJCAA guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Competencies and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, or similar required
• Demonstrated experience with public speaking or classroom facilitation
• Excellent customer service skills
• Working knowledge of computer software and research databases
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and student success
• Commitment to continuous curriculum enhancement and application of best practices
• Strong team player
• Valid Driver License and Access to Vehicle
